Bushman in Africa

In the days when the whole nation was closed to fight the epidemic, reading "Guns, Germs and Steel", this 1980 comedy was suddenly mentioned in the dry historical discussion, which brought great joy to my depressed mood.

A few years ago, the whole family was on vacation in Namibia and met the local BUSHMAN. At the beginning, when I was introduced by the locals, one of the guides was BUSHMAN, and I saw the sarcastic tones and contemptuous expressions of the locals. It was very strange. Namibians, BUSHMAN is a traitor to the country. When South Africa and Namibia were at war, because the South Africans were not familiar with the desert terrain, they hired many BUSHMANs who were well versed in the local terrain. They helped these soldiers survive in the cruel environment. Later, when South Africa was defeated, the soldiers took many BUSHMAN guides back to South Africa in order to thank them. Unfortunately, those who were left behind became the object of disgust and the situation was very miserable. The BUSHMAN in the movie is what I see, kind, cheerful and helpful. In the desert, they are a living map, a living dictionary. When we walk in the desert, it is obviously a land with no markers and no difference. It can find the spider's hole, can tell you how windy it was last night, and can Tell you the ownership of each footprint and the time of stepping on it. We listened to his narration with our jaw dropped and wide-eyed. We also kept talking to himself in his own language, chatting with animals, chatting with plants, in the movie The male protagonist is what I saw in the real version, so kind and real. When I was chatting with another local tour guide, I asked him what he thought of BUSHMAN, because the expressions of a group of local people stayed in my mind for a long time and could not be dissipated. At a loss, after contact, there is a stronger heart for gossip about ethnic conflicts. The tour guide answered me calmly and rationally: 'Well, when there is a fight, you have to pick side, no right or wrong.' So for BUSHMAN they just want to live in peace.

Back to the movie, several main lines are witty and humorous, bringing the audience the typical ecology of Botswana, the soldiers trying to occupy the white people, the local military and bandits, the aborigines, the scientific research group, the criminals hunting contraband, all kinds of people, in the same A beautiful and pristine African landscape intersects, bringing friendship and conflict. The cutest is the child NIRI. When he used the bark to prop up himself to scare HYENA away, and then curled up in the stone crevice to sleep tiredly; I sigh from the bottom of my heart, no matter how different languages, skin colors, and cultures are, human nature is so interlinked. We have almost the same joy and sorrow, praying for world peace, free from natural disasters and man-made disasters.

The Gods Must Be Crazy quotes

  • Narrator: The hairy one said, "We don't want the thing. You have to throw it away yourself." He was very disappointed. He thought it was unfair of the gods to make him throw the thing off the Earth. In fact, he began to doubt if they really were gods.

  • Boga: I said stop playing that bloody game!
