Ted is both a victim and a murderer. He believed that industrial society made people without freedom and had to submit to the technology created by human beings. His point of view is right. In modern society, each of us is just a screw in the society. We need to do what we need to do in our own position. ambitious goals to limit their freedom. But from the birth of human society, we must cooperate with them and establish good relationships with others in order to survive better.
Where he is wrong, however, is that human beings have never been free, nor can they be free, and it is not the technology of industrial society that makes us this way. We need to accept this reality and allow ourselves to adapt better.
So what about human value?
We all want to be recognized and accepted by others. Lonely people don't want to be alone, it's just the last choice that has always been longing to be seen, understood, and accepted.
Our value resides in good relationships with others. As a screw, our value lies in the connection with other screws. In the middle of nowhere, your existence is meaningless.
