people who love me and people I love

Watching this movie feels like sleepwalking. The plot keeps flashing back, and the plot is actually very simple if it is straightforward. Matthew, a young man in Chicago, was fixing a camera when he came across a video of a very beautiful woman (Lisa). He was fascinated by her, and then he saw her on the street and began to follow her and pursue her. Eventually she visits the shoe store where his friend works (it looks like he has several jobs) and he wins a date. They are passionately in love. They often meet at a park. But after she went on a European tour, he completely lost contact with her, whether it was phone calls, letters, or waiting in the park to no avail. The woman he loved so much vanished. Life still had to go on, and two years later he met another girl, he was going to marry her, and go to China. That's when things took a turn when it turned out that another girl (Alex) was manipulating the matter, preventing them from meeting for two years.

Because of the way the film is narrated, I initially thought it was a detective film. But as a romance film, it seems to go around again and again, which is a headache. Because too many plots are expressed through clips, which are constantly flashed back and forth, instead of feeling the feelings of the hero and heroine. It even makes people feel that the two are playing together. Matthew, played by Josh Hartnett, is innocent and infatuated. The portrayal of a boy who is trapped in love and completely fascinated by Lisa is very real and touching. Besides him, the most important heroine is Alex. Alex also fell in love with Matthew at first sight. But she was out of luck, and by the time she went to pick up her VCR for repair, Matthew was already in love with Lisa, Alex's neighbor on the tape. Love must be prioritized and luck must be discussed. There is no fairness at all. Just a few hours, it's a lifetime. A disgruntled Alex directed a play that nearly broke Matthew and Lisa apart. But God still arranged for them to meet again, and the lovers finally got married. Rose Byrne, who plays Alex, can really surprise people. She was only 25 years old when she portrayed the pain of a dark lover and a girl who could not get love into a very real and touching way, and even the audience would eventually forgive her for what she did.

It's heart-wrenching to see Matthew and Alex struggling separately. Everyone is after their favorite. But the person you love the most may not love you. How many people in this world can be emotionally fulfilled?

On the contrary, the person who has the upper hand in this relationship, that is, the actor who plays Lisa, the object of Matthew's bitter love, the German actor Diana Kruger's performance is mediocre. The blonde has gone viral since playing the glamorous Helen in Troy. But her acting skills were always mediocre. Perhaps because of her poor performance, Lisa became a person who was irresponsible for her feelings, teasing and deceiving Matthew's feelings.

This is an urban romance. The hero and heroine go in and out of hot cafes, well-decorated restaurants, subway stations, parks, bustling city streets and apartments. It is very suitable for urban white-collar lovers to watch. Its screenwriter Gilles Mimouni is also the screenwriter of the film "The Apartment". It seems that he likes urban romance themes very much.

The music in the film is very well matched. All are young love songs, mostly sad. When Matthew was wandering the road, Alex's disappointment set off the atmosphere very well. Favorite is the song Scientist, cover from Coldplay.

    Matthew: Yeah, sure. Thanks.

Alex: [rummages around in the kitchen] No. No. No. No.

Alex: [comes back with coffee in two flutes of champagne glasses] He broke all my cups.

    Matthew: That's original.

  • Matthew: Things don't have to be extraordinary to be beautiful, even the ordinary can be beautiful.
