I recently watched Herzog's documentary "Grizzly Man," about a conservationist named Treadwell who spent 13 years getting up close and personal with bears at a nature reserve in Alaska. This is a true story. Treadwell may not be considered a successful person by traditional social evaluation standards. This may be why he is far away from human society and sees himself as a bear and lives closely with bears. one. In the film, Herzog used a lot of footage shot by Treadwell himself, some of which he verbally attacked the former boss, which may be used as evidence. However, in any case, he loves bears from the bottom of his heart, and through the efforts of himself and his friends, he has won more protection and attention for bears. He said in the film that if the bear were to eat him, he would not resist. It turned out that, on a rainy day in 2003, he became grizzly food. Sadly his girlfriend was also killed in the grizzly attack. The film mentions that in the recording before their death, Treadwell yelled at his girlfriend to run, apparently, he didn't want her to be like him.
It's hard for anyone to picture exactly when Treadwell was killed, but from the mutilated limbs they were found to be sure the bear broke into their tent and attacked. It is said that polar bears are the only bears that will actively attack humans, but human language and bear language should be two completely different systems. Perhaps in our opinion, the signal of showing goodwill is precisely the point of unease for bears. Treadwell, who has been trying to integrate into the bear group for 13 years, through this way, although tragic, has really achieved becoming a part of the bear. It seems to me that it is as inconceivable that a man wants to be recognized by a wild bear as a wolf wants to gain the trust of a man. However, the person who died for the bear ended everything he had done for the bear in this way, could his soul also rest in peace? After all, his death was also for the bear.
Another bear sacrifice was Japanese photographer Hoshino Michio (ほしのみちお). Coincidentally, Hoshino has lived in Alaska for 20 years, and has also filmed and published an album about the natural ecology of Alaska. In August 1996, he was on location for a Japanese TV station's wild brown bear shooting program. On the morning of the 8th, a brown bear broke into his tent. As a photographer, his first thought was not to escape or attack. Died at the paw of a bear.
Bears became the end of these two people who love nature and get close to nature, but no one will put the bears on the shackles of morality or legal judgment, because all their actions are instinctive. If they can understand that these people are approaching them just to be friends with them, these people may not need to exist, because maybe humans have died out or moved to Mars by then, and bears ruled the earth. But, before all this happens, the bear sacrificers should probably earn our respect for their belief in nature and their work.
