Just watched the 2018 American comedy film Tully and wondered where the comedy elements are throughout? The overall tone of the film is relatively depressing, even despairing, and because I had a big brain hole when I watched it, I had the illusion that it was a suspense thriller in the middle.
Some people say that this is an anti-marriage and anti-pregnancy propaganda film, but I am still terrified when I am not married. Not out of fear of a future that might end up in marriage, but because I'm also Marlowe's age. I have a stable job, a regular life without pressure, and I live by my parents who are selfless and dedicated to their children. However, I have the slack and lazy mental state of Marlowe who lives a boring day-to-day life and loses his enthusiasm for life.
Marlowe asked Tully: "Why are you younger than me, but you think more mature than me?" Tully replied: "Because I'm only 26 years old, I have a lot of time to think about the meaning of life."
