"Burning" is about the loneliness of people in modern society. Several doubts are interpreted as follows.
1. The well that Hae-mi mentioned exists. On the day when the three of them were together, she told the story of the well. It was obvious that Hae-mi cared about Jong-soo and even had a crush on him. About Zhong Xiu, Hai Mei remembers very clearly, including saying that Hai Mei was ugly in junior high school (so that Hai Mei had plastic surgery), but Zhong Xiu did not remember it at all. It can be seen that Zhong Xiu did not have the slightest affection for Hai Mei . Hae-mi looks lively, but she is actually more lonely than Jong-soo. This was further verified in Zhongxiu's search for Haimei. When Zhongxiu mentioned the well, Haimei's mother accused Haimei of lying like a conditioned reflex. It seemed that Haimei was ugly and not smart when she was a child. Beauty does not even have the most basic family warmth. A person who is lonely in childhood, no matter how colorful his adult life is, it is difficult to get rid of the shadow of his childhood.
2. The burning of plastic greenhouses mentioned by Ben is killing people. Ben said that there are many plastic greenhouses in South Korea that no one cares about. They are useless to the society, and the police will not pay attention to them if they burn them down. A lonely person like Hae-mi is forgotten by her family and society, and her only friend, Jong-soo, is also a timid and inferior person, and she is Ben's best prey. Ben came to Haimei's hometown to make the final confirmation before "burning the warehouse", and when he left, he had already verified his conjecture - this girl has no family or friends to rely on.
3. Ben is a rich second generation. He doesn't have to work, but drives a famous car and lives in a luxury house. He travels abroad at any time. He looks glamorous and enviable, but he is actually as lonely as Zhong Xiu and Hai Mei. Every time other people at the party chat happily, he is mostly a bystander without speaking, and the film also deliberately shows a few scenes of him yawning. He kept getting to know new girls and killing them, venting and relieving his inner loneliness in a thrill-seeking way. This was his solution.
4. Zhong Xiu's family was fragmented. His father's uncontrollable anger destroyed the family. His mother ran away from home when he was young. As a child of his original family, he had no choice. He could only protest the society in silence. : Silent when the girl he likes is taken away by others, silent when he witnesses his father being sentenced. But at the end of the film, his accumulated anger finally erupts in silence...
Li Cangdong used a unique perspective to express loneliness. He made loneliness mysterious and beautiful. The addition of some suspense points also gave the film enough space for interpretation, making the film have a very special temperament.
