Consistent android settings
Director Lei's masterpiece "Blade Runner", adapted from PDK's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" In this 1968 medium-length science fiction novel, the androids are actually clones.
After the 21st century, a large number of artificial intelligence images appeared in various novels and movies, basically based on computers and programs. Since the CPU of the computer is made of silicon, it can also be said to be based on the evolution of silicon. In "Rural Teacher", Da Liu also came up with a showdown between silicon-based civilization and carbon-based civilization on the galactic scale.
But Lei Dao seems to have a soft spot for the concept of androids. Whether it is the Alien and Prometheus series, or this "Alien Cataclysm", artificial intelligence is built on bionic technology, which means that the physical bearing of artificial intelligence is not silicon, but carbon. This leads to the unique visual presentation of Lei Dao's artificial intelligence, which is different from the high-tech, simple and smooth appearance, and the modern style that uses a lot of white in other artificial intelligence images. Lei Dao's artificial intelligence images are bloody and fleshy, sometimes Also with organs. This is very obvious when you look at the image styles of "Blade Runner" and "A Space Odyssey 2001".
This setting of artificial intelligence is very similar to "Westworld". But "Westworld" is more high-tech and modern in imagery.
the pace is too slow
Before Netflix, we thought HBO's shows were well-made and fast-paced. Netflix tells us what is the rhythm of the Internet and what is the way of Internet distribution (release one season at a time, so that you can enjoy enough and refresh at one time).
When I watched "Alien Cataclysm" at the beginning of the year, I felt that the pace was slow. It's just a few things, going back and forth, maybe 6 episodes can be finished, but 10 episodes have to be finished. Aside from the last 10 minutes of the first episode (which felt like a blast) and the last 20 minutes of the last episode, I can't think of any memorable episodes right now. The plot is three steps forward and two steps back.
At the end of the year, I watched "Kingdom" and "Alice in the Dying Kingdom" produced by Netflix. This is really a dimensionality reduction blow. In terms of rhythm, the TV series produced by the two parties are not in the same dimension. After watching these, and watching HBO's weekly dramas, I always feel that there is no end to it. The form of weekly update leads to the need to inject water into this TV series. In order to remind you of what you watched last week and last week, first of all, the plot advancement points should not be too dense. Generally, the ending part is a big advancement, and there will be interspersed during the period. "Preliminary Summary", "Memories" and so on, let you slowly remember, oh, the last time the plot developed to this place.
And Netflix, which plays a whole season at a time, does not need to recall, and directly advances the new plot. I can't help but wonder what would happen if Netflix took over the show.
philosophical speculation
In this piece, the most obvious one is the opposition between atheism and theism, but the show hasn't ended yet, so I can't see what Lei Dao's idea is going to do.
Alien + Alien Prequel, states and discusses the origin of human beings, the causal cycle of creator, human, and android, and constructs a self-consistent alien universe. Most people guess that "Alien Cataclysm" will also be part of the alien universe, it depends on how it is connected, whether it is ingenious and reasonable, the so-called unexpected, and reasonable.
