I think Don't Tell Her is an interesting movie. I think the film compares two different cultures. On the one hand, there is Billie, who is a very American-influenced woman, and on the other hand, there is his traditional Chinese family. Billie's family has a complicated situation. I'm American, so I'm touching on billie's thoughts. If my grandma is icy, I'll definitely tell him. However, I still wonder why the Chinese don't want to tell his sick family. I think the Chinese concept of family is very meaningful, and many Americans should adopt this concept. For example, if I'm a sick old man, I don't want until I'm sick. Plus, I feel like Billie's family has common family issues. At the end of the meal, they all argue passively because they all feel that their method is the best. This problem is similar to that of the United States. If you have a lot of family members doing very different things every day, you will definitely disagree.

Quite disappointed. The emotional catharsis about the concept of life and death that stays on the sentimental level, and the daily spectacle from a Western perspective. The two just happen to have nothing to do with telling a good story.

The shooting is quite satisfactory, everything is the result of careful design, and at first glance, it is the work of the North American film education program; the same as "Floating City on the Sea", there is a common problem, that is, the director's recognition of the special identity, always I can’t jump out of the Western perspective, and I think it’s eastern enough, so I always feel incomprehensible; instead, I found an interesting topic: on the imagination of oriental weddings in American minority films (Japan, China, India, Singapore) .... interesting, interesting)

The Farewell quotes

  • Billi: [frustrated] Are you going to tell Nai Nai?

Haiyan: I can't, Billi. I won't go against my family.

Uncle Haibin: Billi, there are things you misunderstand. You guys moved to the West long ago. You think one's life belongs to oneself. But that's the difference between the East and the West. In the East, a person's life is part of a whole. Family. Society.

Uncle Haibin: You want to tell Nai Nai the truth, because you're afraid to take the responsibility for her. Because it's too big of a burden. If you tell her, then you don't have to feel guilty. We're not telling Nai Nai because it's our duty to carry this emotional burden for her.

  • Jian: You're broke again? Are you always going to live like this?

Billi: Poor but sexy? I hope so!
