talk about color

My memory of black-and-white movies remains in "Rear Window" I watched a few years ago. In my impression, this picture is psychedelic and dark, which is frightening. Before entering Yasujiro Ozu's film, I was a little uneasy and wondered how the minimalist colors could match the rich life. The advancing shots became attractive. I originally liked the characters and life in slow motion. In fact, there is no aesthetic feeling, but I have seen too many fast food legends, and the slow-paced real life unconsciously makes people feel nostalgic. It is full of poetry. Seeing people's lives in a movie is perhaps the most down-to-earth way of life. Ordinary people who are not legendary, there is no heart-piercing grief, nor are they smiling, and the most serious life and death experiences can be easily talked about at the dinner table and by the pillow. This is not attractive, indeed two simple colors of black and white are enough to express. I always want to add too much color to life. When visual inertia is formed, I see the original monotony. I feel that it is too bland, and it is really meaningless. I am convinced that life is not true. The original appearance of life after washing away legends and humiliation. Sometimes I think it's boring because the days are repetitive and tasteless, but it's interesting to think that there are a group of people in this world who also feel that life is meaningless but still live an ordinary life.

Tokyo Story quotes

  • Shukichi Hirayama: I'm surprised how children change. Shige used to be much nicer before. A married daughter is like a stranger.

Tomi Hirayama: Koichi has changed too. He used to be such a nice boy.

Shukichi Hirayama: Children don't live up to their parents' expectations. Let's just be happy that they're better than most.

Tomi Hirayama: They're certainly better than average. We're fortunate.

Shukichi Hirayama: I think so. We should consider ourselves lucky.

Tomi Hirayama: Yes, we are very lucky.

  • Shige Kaneko: [at dinner table following Tomi's funeral] Kyoko, did mother still have her summer sash? I'd like it for a keepsake. Is that alright with you? And that linen kimono she used to wear in summer? I want that too. You know where it is? Can you get it out?
