Where there is oppression, there is resistance. - Engels.
Throughout the ages, where there is oppression, there is resistance. This has become a truth. The film reflects a historical fact of the black civil rights movement in the United States. Black people suffered inexplicable discrimination and exclusion from other races, regarded them as inferior races, and slaughtered them everywhere, so they felt fear and anger, and launched the black civil rights movement.
Some people resisted with force, some people swallowed their voices, and some people went around lobbying and giving speeches. The most effective of these is speech, which changes hearts and resonates. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a great American civil rights activist, he went around speaking, changing people's wrong ideas, thereby freeing black slaves and gaining freedom. This is passive resistance, the most powerful nonviolent act.
Debate is also a type of speech. Let's have a debate, with me as the square.
Debate: When we are unreasonably oppressed, do we need to resist?
According to what Engels said, the answer is beyond doubt. In history, many dynasties were changed because of the unreasonable system of the dynasty, which caused many people to revolt and form new dynasties. Therefore, if there is unreasonable oppression, we need to resist.
In our civilized society, we no longer need violent resistance—to force acceptance. , but should be completely changed from the ideological.

The Great Debaters quotes

  • Melvin B. Tolson: Take the meanest, most restless nigger. Strip him of his clothes in front of the remaining male niggers, female niggers, and nigger infants, tar and feather him, tie each leg to a horse facing an opposite direction, set him on fire, and beat both horses until they tear him apart in front of male, female and nigger infants. Bullwhip and beat the remaining nigger males within an inch of their life. Do not kill them but put the fear of God in them, for they can be useful for future breeding. Anybody know who Willie Lynch was? Anybody? Raise your hand. No one? He was a vicious slave owner in the West Indies. The slave-masters in the colony of Virginia were having trouble controlling their slaves, so they sent for Mr. Lynch to teach them his methods. The word "lynching" came from his last name. His methods were very simple, but they were diabolical. Keep the slave physically strong but psychologically weak and dependent on the slave master. Keep the body, take the mind.

  • Henry Lowe: School's the only place you can read all day. Except prison.
