Initially, both the poster and the synopsis, thought the film was a pure comedy. However, entering the film, I discovered that the director's efforts to ironically attack the failure of high-class mothers in educating their children. Among them, there are a lot of preaching fragments. Of course, the movie itself still has a certain interest, and whether it is the "real person" showcase in the museum or Scarlett's various imaginations, the director tried to shoot new ideas, although the final effect was mediocre.
In the movie, there are several red umbrellas floating in the air. This scene is so familiar that I immediately think of the floating feathers at the beginning and end of "Forrest Gump", and, I think, the director of this film is indeed also Inspired by this bridge break in Forrest Gump. But success or not?
The feathers in Forrest Gump symbolize the wandering life. When Forrest Gump grasps the feathers, it also means that Forrest Gump has grasped his own life. Then look back at the red umbrella. When Scarlett was wandering about her future, the red umbrella appeared. When she decided to be a nanny, the red umbrella took her to the wealthy area. At the end of the film, the red umbrella appeared again. It can be seen that the director also gave the red umbrella a symbolic meaning, and it is the red umbrella that grasps the future. However, because Forrest Gump used it too successfully, the red umbrella in this film was a failure. At least for me, the red umbrella was too deliberate and lacked new ideas. Instead, it became a failure.
After watching the whole movie, there may be many people who will compare it with "The Devil Wears Prada". There is no doubt that the two leading actresses in the two movies are masters. Due to personal emotional tendencies, I will not comment for the time being.
However, there is also one of the biggest highlights of this film, that is, Laura Linney's performance, which is very successful. This time, he skipped the roles of Luye, the male lead, in "The Truman World" and "Mystic River". Laura Linney instantly caught my eye, and truly deserves to be an Oscar-nominated actress. Having seen this movie, I decided to go and watch "You Can Count On Me" right away, hope Laura Linney won't let me down!
Finally, Scarlett's performance is quite satisfactory, even in ordinary to simple clothes, it is still difficult to hide her beauty. If you are a mother, you can still watch this movie. Although the movie is not very good, it is not boring.
ps: The songs in the movie are great!
