About Alex . Alex is the kind of guy you don't easily forget, even at the big adrenaline-packed outdoor film festival. Half because of his amazing talent and achievements, and half because of his unique personality and his extremely insecure girlfriend. (Banff Film Festival, 2015; to be investigated) So when I saw Free Solo, my first reaction was that it really was Alex, and my second reaction was that it really became an ex. Maybe this is the case for everyone, so we can see that the 20-minute short film did not often mention his emotional life, and Free Solo described his childhood, experience, intimacy in a lot of space. Relationships and family life.
It even made me unconsciously develop some kind of ex-girlfriend complex with Sanny. That stupid chick! Why! Ha ha. In fact, everyone, not to mention Alex himself, was wondering whether or not being in a relationship would hurt his climbing achievements. I've never been hurt but I got hurt twice as soon as I date this girl. Witchcraft thinking? everyone does!
About Watching . In this age of publish or Perish, any great move must take into account how it is recorded, shown, broadcast, and finally watched (yes, that's the correct answer, you parrots). It may be difficult for people a hundred years ago to understand that making a documentary would so much jeopardize the completion of the act itself and even the life of the actor, then what for. And historians a hundred years later will probably name this era as: social frenzy. social fever?
There is of course another viewing, in a relationship.
So we can see a very interesting phenomenon: everyone has to pretend that I'm not here and he's not there. On filming, pretending I didn't know they were filming (of course the remote control equipment finally solved this problem to some extent). Sanny ended up having to drive away and drive back six hours later in about ten hours. (So this girl does have merit; I'm such a model ex-girlfriend.) Most movies and even visual arts are familiar with this technique in a sense, but their price is unlikely to be - death. We have talked enough about watching and performing in this era, but it is still hard to see a work that shows such cruel and paradoxical watching and this era of watching.
(In a sense, Alex's success was more than a simple one; he wasn't a lonely teenage boy who accomplished the feat alone in his rebellious years of isolation, he was in an unprecedentedly stable relationship, as A person with constant production and perseverance, completed under the record of an entire shooting team. The presentation of all this makes this documentary far beyond those blood-stirring expedition records. and does it mean anything to you? )
About Death . This is not at all intended to discuss life, death, and similar topics. thanks.
Death, regarded by most philosophers and psychologists as essential, takes on the meaning of "must be manifested" here. We cannot talk about real death (of the self), we can only talk about the death of others (its expression and presentation, what it means to us). In other words, death has to be a big show, even in its absence. Everyone was actually rehearsing Alex's death mentally, practicing their own reactions, their own expressions. For me, I'd rather die in a place no one knows, her head was found in a driving wheel and her body never was found. But now to do that, you really have to go a long way.
Regarding Ueli's death, Alex said, What did she expect to happen (referring to his widow). However this sentence is also paraphrased to blame his character flaws (thanks Sanny we all know why you're saying this). But that's what a true naïve asks to the essence, think about it.
Finally about Alex, what's next. Climb to the top of one that call. I don't know how much boredom, exhaustion, desire to be alone, to hang up the phone. Gone with the Wind has an obscure sequel, in which Scarlett and Brad Reed reunite during the Irish War of Independence. Reid asked (too girlish): Do you love me or just can't get me. Scarlett replied, of course I love you.
Only Rhett could hear the momentary hesitation before she answered.
