all quite on the western front

How should I put it, when the protagonist goes through the war, he comes home and feels that he doesn't belong here anymore. He said he felt that his words, his books, and all the things in his house could not echo his heart. He said he was looking for his real family and felt a little sad to see it here. I have never felt that family must come first, and its status is unshakable. Here, he felt that everything had changed, and he must have experienced great pain or stimulation in his heart - war. Now he feels that every breath he takes is connected with his comrades. It may be similar to the confusion, despair, helplessness and so on of those in the "Beat Generation". People who live very mainstream actually want to know and feel the ideas and living conditions of those who are flamboyant, or live in poverty for their dreams. Because in their hearts they should be envious. At least they have the courage to accept poverty, the courage to accept extraordinary people's eyes and words.
The deaths of many soldiers in the movie are very joyful, but they also make people feel sad. One was just standing up from the trenches and wanted to charge to kill the enemy, but he quickly fell down before he could stand up. Veteran Carter always thought it was just a calf injury. He carried his back to the emergency center and found that the man had died like a heavy stone. Yes, there is blood behind the forehead. Although 10 minutes before his death, the male lead was still talking to him. Everything is so capricious and unpredictable. Make people laugh at the cheapness of life. Even the hero's death is so nonsensical. Seeing the birds on the branches, I finally felt a little bit of life on the battlefield where the corpses were all over the place. I just moved my body up a little, and wanted to better capture the angle to paint. I was so unlucky that I was shot in the back of the head and died. The paper was soaked in the muddy water, and it was wet, and there was obviously an unfinished painting on it.
Both world wars were caused by the Germans. This really makes people curious about this nation. This movie turned out to be made in the United States. Is there anything that is unclear in it?
it's same. We have mother, father. We feel pain. Same, it's same.

All Quiet on the Western Front quotes

  • Hair-peak soldier: And manufacturers. They get rich.

    [murmurs of agreement]

Albert Kropp: I think it's more a kind of fever. Nobody wants it in particular, and then all at once, there it is. We didn't want it. The English didn't want it. And here we are fighting.

  • Albert Kropp: Ah, the French certainly deserve to be punished for starting this war.

Detering: Everybody says it's somebody else.

Tjaden: Well. how do they start a war?

Albert Kropp: Well, one country offends another.

Tjaden: How could one country offend another?

Tjaden: You mean there's a mountain over in Germany gets mad at a field over in France?

    [Everyone laughs]

Albert Kropp: Well, stupid, one people offends another.

Tjaden: Oh, well, if that's it, I shouldn't be here at all. I don't feel offended.

Katczinsky: It don't apply to tramps like you.

Tjaden: Good. Then I could be goin' home right away.

Paul Bäumer: Ah, you just try it.

Katczinsky: Yeah. You wanna get shot?

    Tjaden: The kaiser and me...

    [the others laugh]

Tjaden: Me and the kaiser felt just alike about this war. We didn't either of us want any war, so I'm going home. He's there already.

Hair-peak soldier: Somebody must have wanted it. Maybe it was the English. No, I don't want to shoot any Englishman. I never saw one 'til I came up here. And I suppose most of them never saw a German 'til *they* came up here. No, I'm sure *they* weren't asked about it.

    Paul Bäumer: No.

Detering: Well, it must be doing somebody some good.

Detering: Not me and the kaiser.

Hair-peak soldier: I think maybe the kaiser wanted a war.

Tjaden: You leave us out of this!

Katczinsky: I don't see that. The kaiser's *got* everything he needs.

Hair-peak soldier: Well, he never had a war before. Every full-grown emperor needs one war to make him famous. Why, that's history.

Paul Bäumer: Yeah, generals, too. They need war.
