Game of Thrones

I finished watching "All Quiet on the Western Front" today. It's an old movie, but it's not bad for me.
The film describes the story of the war between Germany and Britain and France in World War I. The young man was encouraged by the school teacher to go to the front line, but found that the war was different from what he imagined. As the war continued day by day, the feeling of the war changed from joy to confusion. Hate war in the end. The war destroyed everything, love, family, career... all turned into the past, and the war changed everything.
At the end of the film, the protagonist Paul was sniped in order to catch a butterfly, and the film ended, in order to sublimate the theme of the film, rejecting war and cherishing peace.
The sound of artillery fire and the sound of cannonballs flying in the air in the movie are shocking to the ears. Just watching this, you will feel this feeling and stay away from it, the noisy artillery fire, and the battle with real guns. , I don't know if this is all restored to the truth, I feel that this is different from the background of the movies and TV series watched in China, maybe this is the truth. At the end of the story, Paul returned to his hometown due to injury, but found that people had changed. Everyone was discussing the victory of the war, proud of wearing military uniforms, and his teacher continued to encourage the next group of young people to go to war. , which made him feel very sad and lonely. He went back to the war early and wanted to stay with his friends, but I think he actually killed Carter, but it doesn't matter, the war has changed so much.
Living in China, and in the new century, is actually a very lucky thing. At least now the country is prosperous and there is no war. Seeing the years of wars in the Middle East, Israel, Syria and other places in the news, the family is destroyed, except those in power and vested interests, who does not yearn for peace? I just hope that there will be less wars in this world and a good life.
War is the fastest way to destroy humanity.

All Quiet on the Western Front quotes

  • Hair-peak soldier: And manufacturers. They get rich.

    [murmurs of agreement]

Albert Kropp: I think it's more a kind of fever. Nobody wants it in particular, and then all at once, there it is. We didn't want it. The English didn't want it. And here we are fighting.

  • Albert Kropp: Ah, the French certainly deserve to be punished for starting this war.

Detering: Everybody says it's somebody else.

Tjaden: Well. how do they start a war?

Albert Kropp: Well, one country offends another.

Tjaden: How could one country offend another?

Tjaden: You mean there's a mountain over in Germany gets mad at a field over in France?

    [Everyone laughs]

Albert Kropp: Well, stupid, one people offends another.

Tjaden: Oh, well, if that's it, I shouldn't be here at all. I don't feel offended.

Katczinsky: It don't apply to tramps like you.

Tjaden: Good. Then I could be goin' home right away.

Paul Bäumer: Ah, you just try it.

Katczinsky: Yeah. You wanna get shot?

    Tjaden: The kaiser and me...

    [the others laugh]

Tjaden: Me and the kaiser felt just alike about this war. We didn't either of us want any war, so I'm going home. He's there already.

Hair-peak soldier: Somebody must have wanted it. Maybe it was the English. No, I don't want to shoot any Englishman. I never saw one 'til I came up here. And I suppose most of them never saw a German 'til *they* came up here. No, I'm sure *they* weren't asked about it.

    Paul Bäumer: No.

Detering: Well, it must be doing somebody some good.

Detering: Not me and the kaiser.

Hair-peak soldier: I think maybe the kaiser wanted a war.

Tjaden: You leave us out of this!

Katczinsky: I don't see that. The kaiser's *got* everything he needs.

Hair-peak soldier: Well, he never had a war before. Every full-grown emperor needs one war to make him famous. Why, that's history.

Paul Bäumer: Yeah, generals, too. They need war.
