He's Lost Control

I've watched some of the legendary movies, but I'm not very impressed. I remember watching "Doors", and I thought it was awesome, but after reading "No One Lives Here", I was a little disappointed with Oliver Stone. A lot of cinematic skills are pale and artificial in the biopic, which I feel is a flaw in the form of the film.

Joy Division has been listening to it frequently for a while, but he knows nothing about Ian Curtis. He only debuted at the age of 19 and died at the age of 23. The music is very dark, oppressive, and occasionally resentful. It sounds very depressing, but it makes people want to fly to Manchester right away, shrugging their collars and walking through the dark streets, loitering under the dark street lights.

The black and white film used in the film is obviously a coincidence. Because Ian's life is too short, there is time to elaborate. Jim Morrison also didn't live long, but there were too many threads in the film, which made it look messy, not as simple as Ian.

After reading it, I looked for it, and found seven records of Joy Division's records at home, which is really not easy. Thinking about that time, I was also very dark and oppressive. As for the resentment, I can't remember.

Control quotes

  • Ian Curtis: I don't want to be in the band anymore. Unknown Pleasures was it. I was happy. I never meant for it to grow like this. When I'm up there, singing they don't understand how much I give and how it affects me. Now they want more. They expect me to give more. And I don't know if I can. It's like it's not happening to me, but... someone pretending to be me, someone dressed in my skin. Now we're going to America. I have no control anymore. I don't know what to do.

  • Ian Curtis: I struggle between what I know is right in my own mind, and some warped truthfulness as seen through other people's eyes who have no heart, and can't see the difference anyway.
