Love is forever

"The Cocoon" is an old sci-fi film of the 80s with a strong romantic color. The sci-fi films of that era liked to shoot space aliens. The magnificent vision and the epic pattern make the movies filmed at that time have extraordinary charm. Although it seems that many of them are beautiful dreams, the feelings have to be moved. And that era has always been a dream for me. In the film, several elderly people in the seaside nursing home are either terminally ill or have long lost their vitality. Their outcome can be predicted, and they passed away silently in the nursing home like all ordinary old people. But they found a good thing-a swimming pool with a lot of "magic cocoons". Wherever you swim, you can instantly feel young and fully feel the joy of life. They sang, danced and joked unscrupulously, so happy, just like when they were young, young people couldn't help but look sideways. As if the world belongs to them. Yes, who said that the elderly cannot have a second spring? The elderly also have the right to resist control and pursue the life they want. The most wonderful and dreamy part of the movie "The Cocoon" is that there is actually a kind of power in the world that makes people rejuvenate, and this kind of power does not originate from the earth, but a distant alien civilization. The alien image bid farewell to the alien’s cruelty, ET’s awkwardness and simplicity, but affects the audience in front of the screen like Christ came to the world, making them feel healed and warmed like the old people in the film, and their lives seem to be Received the blessing of God, full of youthful vitality. In fact, it can be said to replace the aliens with another mysterious power, but the alien subject matter has always belonged to the sweet pastry in that era, and that's why such a unique alien movie was produced. Moreover, the disappeared civilization Atlantis and aliens are connected together, which is fantastic and wonderful. At the end of the film, although the old people who accepted the invitation of aliens also have reluctance to give up their children, they are even more hopeful and rush to the alien journey to eternal life with their wives. This group of lovely old people have experienced a colorful life on earth, and they are about to face a new civilization. Like the aliens said, they are both "teacher" and "student". Ironically, the nursing home thought that they were all dead, and held a memorial service that was memorable, claiming that under their care, the old people could have a happy and peaceful old age. Only the little grandson knew where grandpa went, and he smiled happily. This is a warm and touching work. What the director wants to discuss is not aliens, but the old life of the elderly. The film reveals two completely different views on death: one is to accept normal birth, aging, sickness and death with one's beloved, and let the flow take its course; the other is to be with the lover Go beyond the rules and break the boundaries to pursue immortality and youth. However, the common point is that enjoying every moment of life with someone you love, regardless of life or death, this is the best ending. This value is universal. Love knows no borders, only love is eternal. In other words, as long as you are with the one you love, you are always in heaven, and you will live forever for a moment. There are so many empty-nest elderly in China. They lack family care and their children are not around. Many of them are sent to nursing homes. In fact, who understands their depression and sorrow? Close to death day by day, life and affection are passing by. If the elderly in our country can watch such a movie, will their mood be much better? At least there is a lot of hope in it, and those are what every day dying person wants to see.

Cocoon quotes

  • Art Selwyn: [singing] Oh I'm in the mood for love.

Ben Luckett: Will you listen to this guy, he'll be chasing them dolls 'til his dick runs off.

Art Selwyn: Oh I'm too old for that sort of thing.

    Joseph Finley: Age isn't everything.

    Art Selwyn: Nope.

Joseph Finley: Anyway it's all up here.

Ben Luckett: Not all up there, Pal. Some of it's down here, which I might add is stiff as a board.

Art Selwyn: You too? You got a boner too?

Ben Luckett: Blue steel. Cat couldn't scratch it.

Joseph Finley: I thought I was the only one.

Art Selwyn: [singing] We're in the mood for love, simply because we've got one.

  • Ben Luckett: Bernie, why don't you stop being like that. We're doing this for Joe.

Bernie: Joe? Is Joe above the law?

    Ben Luckett: Yeah.
