Although the movie is called The Ghost Story, it is not a ghost movie; although the plot is about a couple, the female protagonist is sad after the death of the male protagonist but decides to start a new life after a period of time, and the male protagonist turns into a ghost Staying in that house and constantly experiencing the changes of the world and the reincarnation of time, in my opinion, there is very little love in it. What the director wants to express is probably that everything is not worth the power of time. The "forever, always" that we often say in our mouths has become a joke in front of time.
The director makes full use of montage to take the audience through time and space, from spring to winter, from the change of seasons from spring to winter, from the lonely heroine to having a new boyfriend, from the constant replacement of house occupants to being demolished and razed to the ground and then built High-rise buildings... The stars have changed, and after a few reincarnations, the ghost of the male protagonist gradually forgot who he was waiting for.
The cool tone of the film and the moody tone of depression and sadness, coupled with the bgm of The Sceret In The Wall, brought me to tears several times. It was heart-wrenching as we watched the ghost's sheets turn dirty and old from the start to white. The world is ever-changing, but the ghost of the male protagonist is always stuck in the same place, and the obsession in his heart is his cage.
There is a long line in the movie that is probably what the film wants to express, no matter how great the love is, the books, music, etc. left by the predecessors will eventually disappear. It will all go. Just like the heroine said Whenever she leaves a place, she leaves little notes hidden in various corners, so that when she wants to go back, there will be a part of her former self waiting. However, the female protagonist never came back after leaving the house where she lived with the male protagonist, and the house was demolished many years later, leaving nothing behind.
At the end of the movie, the ghost of the male protagonist has gone through a reincarnation and once again witnessed his own death and the departure of the female protagonist. The moment he took out the note left by the female protagonist from the crack in the wall, he completely disappeared from this world. The bgm of the movie is relatively light, and the male protagonist has given up his obsession. However, the thought of his second life soul going through such a reincarnation still makes me feel very sad... life is like a
dream, for joy.
We should live to grasp the present and enjoy the present, because all the emotions and traces of our existence will be faded and erased by time, becoming less known and worthless.
