It turned out to be one of the top ten best photographers of 2017 by Indiewire... I can't read the subtitles because of the resources I found, but fortunately, this film can be understood without any dialogue. When shooting, I used a lot of camera language to describe emotions, which I think is far better than verbal expression. It surprised me to see that Lao Mei made this type of film, because the rhythm and style are more like French films. The director likes to use long shots very much. I really think that the controversial five minutes is pretty good. You can feel the progressive sadness of the heroine and the increasingly powerless feeling of the hero. It reminds me of 64 seconds in EVA. A single-frame freeze-frame long shot, the context of such a shot language is really a stroke of genius.
The cello, as the core instrument of the soundtrack, matches the sadness so well.
The male protagonist gave up the reincarnation to see the female protagonist. I have also dreamed about this scene. It is exactly the same: I also walked through a wide field of grass on foot, and I also watched from a distance. There should be some graphical representations. Something is included in it.
The male protagonist's jealousy and tantrums are real and cute.
The male protagonist's obsession is too deep and he has not let it go. The ghost on the opposite side has given up, and he still chooses to stay and wait. Why do I think he wants to "keep the memory of loving you for a while longer"... After all, it's impossible to wait.
The ending turned out to be like this, and it was pretty good, at least it was finally relieved. Warm things can still move me as always.
