When I watched the 03 version of the animation, I only watched more than 10 episodes. At that time, I felt that the theme of steelmaking was very dark, from the human body of the two brothers to the synthetic beast of Nina at the beginning. As a friend, I believe that everyone will feel terrified. However, it is undeniable that steelmaking is an excellent work. It is different from the general hot-blooded animation, which often talks about justice and love, but relatively formally expresses the characters' love and hate, struggle and confusion in the throughout the comic.
What impresses me the most is the world view of steelmaking - the principle of equivalent exchange. The 03 version of the animation denies the principle of equivalent exchange. I think it is a failure. After all, alchemy is based on equivalent exchange. In the opening of each episode, El will emphasize that "if people don't sacrifice anything, they can't get anything. In order to get For anything, you need to pay the same price." This is the world view of steelmaking, and the 03 version finally denied it. I think it makes the whole animation inconsistent and the plot is a little chaotic. Subverting the equivalent exchange is equivalent to subverting the steelmaking. "Love It can't be explained by equivalent exchange" especially makes me sick, isn't love relatively irresponsible? The screenwriter promotes mainstream values and secretly changes the concept. In my opinion, it is a relatively nonsense in the 03 edition.
In addition, what impressed me more was the image of the villain. After removing the seven deadly sins, he was supposed to be a "real person" or a perfect person, but he was still punished by the truth. This is another value of steelmaking, people can't be perfect, just like people can't come back to life, we used to think we could touch the sun, but the truth is that the closer we get to it, the easier it is to fall. It is very ironic. In the play, the two brothers want to become a mother's body but lose their own body, the throne in the eyes of the chief is the president but has lost its light, and the teacher wants to have children but loses fertility. In the end, Ed said that he was not reduced to being a mortal, and I agree very much, because we are mortals in the first place. As human beings, we love, we hate, we suffer after we make mistakes, and grow after suffering.
Compared with 09, 03 has richer emotions and flesh and blood than 09. For example, the role of Xiuzi in 03 has a lot more nympho scenes than 09, and his death is even more sad. The emotional world of the character lust is also more complicated than simply being an android. After watching the two animations, my thinking is that if you are more emotional, people will prefer 03, while people with stronger logic will think 09 is better.
