How does one prove that one exists? Edward Elric almost lost his younger brother due to an alchemy accident, but his younger brother still lost his body. All he could do was attach his younger brother's consciousness to an armor. The younger brother accepted this fact, and the two brothers remained the same. What kind of existence is Alphonse Elric? To himself, he was Alphonse Elric; to Edward, his brother. But what about others? In fact, he is just an armor created by Edward to preserve Alphonse's memory. How does this armor prove its existence? His memory can also be false, given by Edward, can't it? Edward can give memory to this armor, and of course he can give a flower, a grass, or even a piece of shit. Astro Boy is a substitute for his son created by Dr. Tianma. He can give Astro Boy the memory of his own son (the anime does not give memory, this is just an assumption), but he can never make Astro Boy become His own son, for him, the son has left him forever. The only difference is that Edward can regard this armor as his younger brother, but Dr. Tianma cannot. The reason for the difference is that Edward transferred his memory while his brother was alive, but Tenma created Astro after his son died. So in Edward's heart, the younger brother is still alive; in Tianma's heart, the son is dead. But from another perspective, how do people prove their existence? Relying on memory, or your own existence in the eyes of others? How can we prove that our memories are not given by others? If so, how are we different from that armor?
From this point of view, Alphonse really has nothing to think about. Except for his appearance, he is a little weird, but in terms of understanding, he is really no different from humans.
