brilliant!

American zero, South African Hero

When I saw him rehearsal and said Thanks for Cape Town Thanks for everyone

When I saw him say "Thanks for keeping me alive" on stage

When I see the fans below crying and dancing

when he sings

i finally cry

He was unknown in the United States to paint the roofs of others, but he was regarded as a hero in South Africa. He promoted the social change of a country. The infinite power under the oppression changed the trajectory of many people's lives.

He's been to South Africa five times and gave nearly 40 concerts, but he still lives in the old house in Detroit where he's lived for more than 40 years.

He's old but he's still calm

Many people have followed the story behind him. He has never been indifferent to fame and fortune. He is also on world tour and holds concerts.

But what does it matter, he's talented enough, he's changed so many people

The story itself is really good. His music is unparalleled and the director's shooting is amazing.

If I wanted to feel the true meaning of life, I wouldn't fucking watch this movie

Searching for Sugar Man quotes

  • Rick Emmerson: What he's demonstrated, very clearly, is that you have a choice. He took all that torment, all that agony, all that confusion and pain, and he transformed it into something beautiful. He's like the silkworm, you know? You take this raw material, and you transform it. You come out with something that wasn't there before. Something beautiful. Something perhaps transcendent. Something perhaps eternal. Insofar as he does that, I think he's representative of the human spirit, of what's possible. That you have a choice "And this has been my choice, to give you Sugar Man". Now, have you done that? Ask yourself.

  • Rick Emmerson: He had this kind of magical quality that all the genuine poets and artists have: to elevate things. To get above the mundane, the prosaic. All the bullshit. All the mediocrity that's everywhere. The artist, the artist is the pioneer.
