A killer's redemption

Because I liked the song "dear", I revisited the Korean movie "Uncle" last night. The

plot is actually quite simple and old-fashioned: a former special forces killer (played by Yuan Biao) is in despair after his wife was killed before giving birth. He stepped back and started a pawnshop for a living. Except for Xiaomi, the little girl next door, no one in this world pays attention to him. Because of an accidental drug trafficking case, Xiaomi and his mother were also kidnapped by the underworld. In order to rescue Xiaomi, the uncle of the pawnshop reloaded and exchanged his life for Xiaomi's future.

Similar themes include the classic "This Killer Isn't Too Cold", and in recent years Denzel Washington's "Furious Rescue", but "Uncle" still shocks me. First, the Korean culture is close to mine, and it is easier to resonate. Second, because of Yuan Biao's "coolness" in the movie.

There are two kinds of cool, one is to pretend to be cool, such as when you were young, or as a member of the underworld in Hong Kong films, to be cool for the sake of being cool. I don’t think the real coolness can be regarded as an admiration. It’s just the helplessness after reading all the prosperity and vicissitudes of life. dull.

The male protagonist basically has no smiles or dialogues in the whole film. At first, he treats Xiaomi with ignorance, but Xiaomi, who is also lonely, regards him as his closest person, and even tells others that this is her father, but the male protagonist Turn away. At the end, the uncle said to Xiaomi: I'm sorry, I pretended not to know you at that time. If I wanted to know you too much, I would become ignorant of you. Of course Xiaomi doesn't understand, but I do. Although in the words of a psychiatrist to me, this is a lack of caring and emotional communication in childhood, so that in adulthood you have a fear of love and can't express your feelings normally. I can't deny this point of view, but I believe that many people, like the male lead, choose to escape when love comes. Love is delicate and fragile porcelain. If you can't take over it, it's better to leave.

Yuan Biao's coolness is more reflected in his action scenes. It's not like Jackie Chan's acrobatic fighting, nor like the mentally handicapped man in the anti-Japanese drama. The opponent is fast, he is faster, the opponent is ruthless, he is more ruthless, three moves Someone must fall, and with the realistic cut that is most commonly used in Korean action films, the fighting scenes are even more bloody, violent but hearty. When he was alone in the enemy's cave, the villain Boss said to Yuan Biao disdainfully: You are wrong. And Yuan Biao just said calmly: I don't know how many cavities you have, except for gold teeth, I will chew them. When he raised his head again, Yuan Biao had turned into a beast with bloodshot eyes, and blood splattered from the sword and spear. Taibai Youyun: One kills every ten steps, one thousand miles without leaving, and when the matter is done, go away with clothes, and hide in deep hiding and fame.

An anonymous killer who doesn't care about discrimination and humiliation by others, why would he be willing to risk his life for an irrelevant little girl? From the plot point, I think it is understandable: the killer watched his wife and children die, but he was powerless, and the subsequent sinking was his punishment. And when Xiaomi, who is the only one in the world who treats him as a relative (even if it is a lie), is in danger again, he has already regarded the little girl as his lover and child, as an opportunity to redeem himself for the past. Therefore, it is not the killer who saved Xiaomi, but Xiaomi who saved the killer.

At the end of the movie, the uncle hugged Xiaomi tightly, and the little girl asked: Uncle, are you crying? The uncle remained silent, only two lines of hot tears slipped down his scarred face, but the corners of his eyes were clearly a rare smile. At this time, the ending song "Dear" sounded slowly, the picture gradually darkened, and the whole world was frozen in this sad and warm moment.
