Heaven and hell, angels and devils represent absolute good and evil in people's minds. But "Good Omens" this British drama has subverted my thinking.
First of all, it is difficult to say whether the two protagonists of this play are good or evil. Let’s talk about Raphael first. 6,000 years ago, Adam and Eve stole the forbidden fruit and were banished from the Garden of Eden. Before leaving, Raphael worried that they would be in danger and gave them his flaming sword. Can we call this sympathy for criminals good or evil? Besides, Crowley, in order to prevent the war from destroying the earth, he killed the demons of his own camp. Is this behavior good or evil? Raphael is an angel and can't do bad things, so bad things encourage Crowley to go up; Crowley is a demon and can only do bad things, but he doesn't have the heart to hurt children. In fact, the original intention of angels and demons to protect the world is not that great, just because Raphael wants to continue to be a foodie, and Crowley wants to continue to play the world.
Next, let's talk about the two camps of heaven and hell. Satan sent his own son to bring disaster to the world, but the heaven camp not only did not stop it, but also tried to facilitate it, just to decide the winner. In the end, they even communicated for the sake of the war.
I think what this show is really trying to celebrate is humans. Human beings have both good and evil as angels and demons, good people have evil thoughts, and bad people have good deeds. The world is so interesting when there are good and evil, and the unpredictable and mutual transformation of good and evil makes the world colorful. This is also the real reason why angels and demons are nostalgic for the world.
ps: As a British comedy, some of the stems are really incomprehensible.
