movies like poetry

This movie cannot be viewed as a drama. As I said to a friend yesterday, Wolf's novels are more like prose or poetry, not plot at all. Wenders' films are picture/image poems, much like Rilke's poems, in paragraphs, monologues, and fragments. Actually, I don't really like the ending of the movie, that monologue is okay, but the ending is a bit regrettable. I love the monologue of the guy who died by the bridge. . . That scene seems to have appeared in the dream many times. . . The repetition of dreams. And for the first time in color. . . And the director's portrait of the supporting role. . . Seems like visual poetry.

Wings of Desire quotes

  • Damiel: Hey, wait! You wanted to tell me more. I want to know. Everything!

Peter Falk: You need to figure that out for yourself. That's the fun of it.

  • Marion: [inner voice] I couldn't say who I am. I don't have the slightest idea. I have no roots, no story, no country, and I like it that way. I'm here. I'm free. I can imagine anything. Everything's possible. I only have to lift my eyes and once again I become the world. Now, on this very spot, a feeling of happiness that I could keep forever.
