Steve McQueen's film actors sacrificed a lot. This film has a strong sense of history. There are many long shots and intriguing lines. People who don't understand history or have no patience can't stand it. In the movie I saw the dehumanization of a civilized society, the wardens simply didn't treat political prisoners as human, like they were taming a bunch of beasts, brutal and cruel, which explains why they did this Extreme forms of resistance even go on hunger strikes. However, I think the hunger strike is really a naked moral kidnapping and should not be used to encourage their arrogance (although it is very inhumane, but to a certain extent they are a group of crazy martyrs, there is no need to talk about reason with them)

In short, The tragedy happened because Mrs Thatcher did not give the other party an equal position to negotiate. In the final analysis, it was caused by the failure of the communication between the two parties.

In a film of only 90 minutes, the director actually used nearly 30 minutes to shoot a set of confrontation scenes in a single scene, and there was almost no switching of the soundtrack and shots. Steve McQueen could really dare to play.

The essence lies in the lens art and performance, especially the large number of gorgeous or simple long shots and the super-long dialogue scene.

  • Father Dominic Moran: [offering Sands a cigarette] Bit of a break from smokin' the Bible, eh?

    Bobby Sands: [agrees]

Father Dominic Moran: Anyone work out which book is the best smoke?

Bobby Sands: We only smoke the Lamentations. A right miserable cigarette.
