Very good movie starring Orlando Bloom and Kirsten Dunst.

Orlando Bloom's acting road is really smooth. The two blockbuster series "The Lord of the Rings" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" made him soaring. "Elizabethtown" is completely different from these two series. It is an American fairy tale.

At the beginning of the film, the leading actor Drew (Orlando Bloom) is faced with the crushing of his dreams, being fired, and the multiple blows of emotional failure. In extreme depression, he is ready to commit suicide. But before committing suicide, knowing that his father had a heart attack and died in his hometown of Elizabethtown, his mother and sister began to go crazy. Drew had to take his own responsibility to prepare the funeral and bring back the ashes. So, in the face of death, I had to deal with my father first, and then deal with my own.

However, the fork in life is often an inadvertent moment. I met Claire, a strange flight attendant on the plane back to my hometown, and I had a lot of warm feelings when I returned to my hometown. This is the foundation of his family. Elizabethtown is really a beautiful and pure town, and the people here love his father very much. Here he met a cousin he had never met, an old friend of his father, and a passionate groom who happened to be at the hotel where he was staying. Everything is changing, and an unintentional phone call to Claire changes his mood and life again...

The climax of the whole show, in my opinion, is the long funeral speech of Drew's mother, although the director may not necessarily think so. But her speech and performance tricks people inside and outside the theater were very moved, crying and laughing.

Since it is about the embodiment of the American dream, it can easily become a classic. There are many bits and pieces in the film, and it does have the potential to become a classic. For example, the father whose sun shines in his coffin, and the dust scattered in the wind, all form the solid foundation of a classic film. However, after reading it, you will feel that it is one step away from the classic. Although smiling happily and crying moved, it is always a little bit short of being able to exist in my heart forever.

Thinking back, the main content of the whole film is too frivolous. It mainly tells a love story, but it seems that the fruit caught from another yard is not as sweet as the one grown at home. The problem is either the screenwriter itself, or the editing and timing of the movie, or the lack of skill of the two protagonists. There are many touching moments in this love, but they always fail to produce a chapter that can become a swan song.

From the male protagonist's point of view, the whole movie is the story of how he got out of the psychological shadow. Meet the heroine, fall in love, and be rescued. For Orlando, such a play is too heavy, and what he has done can only be considered a pass. The heroine is Dunst, and in a blockbuster like "Spider-Man," she's a substandard vase, and in this film, she's barely able to do well. However, the film itself does not dig deep enough for the heroine. So, what I saw was an unbalanced emotional story, and the movie seemed to be one step away from the classic.

Fortunately, there are also a large group of supporting roles that shine brilliantly, and these supporting roles have their own backgrounds. In addition to the mother, there are also Drew's boss, friends from the township, and many other supporting roles, although there are not many scenes, the effect of combining them in the film is very good. Even the actor who plays his father often only shows his photos, but he still feels that the role is unusually vivid.

There are occasional black-and-white reviews of the film, and there is no shortage of brilliant editing. Even Hepburn's shoes at the Roman Holiday Ball were cleverly revealed. As for the soundtrack, a lot of well-known pop songs are used. This is all to reflect the American dream in the director's heart. You can even take down a lot of the movie directly and use it as a travel guide for the south central United States.

The final chapter of the movie is a bit like a verse. Plot, graphics, music and narration. All put together in the hands of the director. One by one jumped out and flashed past. Straight to the subject, is life, all about life.

Even if it is only one step away from the classic. I still recommend it to all my friends, because I can calm down and be moved once.

Elizabethtown quotes

  • Drew Baylor: I see you right there. I see you right there.

    Claire Colburn: There you are.

  • Drew Baylor: You know, there is nothing greater than deciding in your life that things maybe really are black and white! And this guy Ben, who clearly takes you for granted, who serially takes advantage of you, is bad! And what I'm saying is good! See what I mean? You shouldn't be the substitute for anybody. This guy should be right here, right now, doing this
