Some of my thoughts on "Ms. Sloan"

The old rules, first give a score, 9 points.

I'm not very good at the writing rhythm and narrative techniques of the movie, but as a layman, the whole story is still very attractive to me. In layman's terms, it is a cool drama with a big heroine.

The whole atmosphere of this drama is actually romantic with a bit of realism. The heroine opens and hangs all the way. Although she is a little weak in the middle, the ending has a big reversal. The story doesn't look painful, on the contrary, there is a kind of joy that can be rewarded for evil.

Next, I will come back to a few issues that everyone has discussed. The following only represent my personal views.

First, why take this case?

It's clear in the film that Sloan just wants an unprecedented victory. But in fact, the reason why Sloan wants to win is because Sloan's state is not good, he is on drugs, insomnia, does not trust anyone, and even the doctor said that she has been chronically committing suicide. The job was eating her up and she needed to stop and rest. However, according to her work situation, it can be judged that if she takes a break for a while, her workplace position will be quickly replaced. As a strong woman who only has a job, she does not allow such a thing to happen. So she needs a huge success, so that she can't be forgotten even if she quits the workplace for a period of time, so she will undoubtedly choose a case that will not win in anyone's eyes, and if she wins, she can achieve this goal. So I think this is the main reason why she chose this case. And obviously, if she wins such a terrific case, even if she goes to jail, there will definitely be many people willing to hire her.

Second, why did Sloan lose control and drop things?

The reason Sloan got out of control wasn't because the results turned bad. Instead, she found herself very alone, no one could understand her, and she had no friends. When she was slandered and attacked by the media, her colleague and boss only comforted her symbolically, no one accompanied her to comfort her, everyone thought she was very strong, only she herself understood that she was also vulnerable deep down and yearned for it. accompany. No amount of success can fill the void in your heart.

Third, does Sloan have a human touch?

The answer is yes. From the very beginning, she did not think that the law of holding a gun was correct, and satirized regardless of the opponent's power, showing that she had her own principles and bottom lines. Look at her team's loyalty to her. If she is just a person with strong working ability but no personality, it is impossible for her to be supported. Even Jane, the assistant who is closest to her, has different values from hers. Willing to be her undercover. Besides, when the black girl was pushed out by her to talk about her experience of being almost shot, she quickly agreed with her plan and there was no big gap between her and the heroine in the next work. It wasn't until the black girl was almost shot that Sloan realized the existence of the accident. And she's guilty, too, with a Sloan-esque apology: I don't know where the boundaries are? In fact, this sentence is Ms. Sloan's gesture of bowing her head. Even the subsequent change in the lawyer's attitude can be seen. In the past, everyone mistakenly thought that she was a ruthless person, but in fact she also has her own bottom line of principles and persistence, but the bottom line of this principle will be lower than that of ordinary people.

Fourth, does five years represent prison terms or working time?

I think both are understandable and have little impact. It can also be seen that although Sloan does not trust and use colleagues, she will not really harm colleagues. This is her bottom line. Black girls are an accident. Later, in her self-report, she also said that she should not betray her close partners.

Fifth, did the black girl forgive Sloan?

From the conclusion of the hearing, when the black girl looked back, she could see that she did not forgive Sloan, but she would not hate her either. Black girls represent the general public to some extent, kind, weak, but unyielding. Their attitude towards Sloan is that admiration is true admiration, and disapproval is also disapproval. And Sloan's turning back also means that I am like this, and it is impossible to change.

Sixth, who was the last person to take Sloan out of prison?

The script says it's the waiter. I myself prefer him. Because this is more in line with the tone of the film, romance in the dark of realism. There are three scenes of intimate contact with the male waiter, and the relationship progresses again and again, and Sloan also seldom revealed to him what his mother called him. This is a very private topic that illustrates the development of the two relationships. And the last scene where the waiter was in the courtroom, on the one hand, satirized the waiter and the congressman. The positions of the two were very different, and the moral contrast was even more obvious. On the other hand, he also indirectly protected Sloan and touched the softness in her heart.

And the reason why the film is left blank, it is estimated that the audience is left to guess! The lawyer and the waiter, both saw a different side of Sloan on a different level and were attracted to it.

The last question, why did Sloan have to leave his own hand and take such a big risk in court?

She can continue to monitor and find evidence that is more favorable to her. After all, it shouldn't be difficult to find. Anything that the gunmen woo a politician to say is a scandal.

This may be a business issue. The time and place of a piece of evidence determines how useful it can be. Sloan wanted a big win from the start, and nothing beats exposing a congressman's political scandal in court. If you change the way, the opponent may be ready to fight back, and she intends to let the opponent make a fatal move. This is also very similar to her crazy work style. On the surface, it seems to be restrained and rational, but it is actually crazy inside.

The above is my own opinion. In my opinion, Sloan was portrayed as full and three-dimensional, and the director and screenwriter were kind to the group of strong women. A cool drama that opens and hangs all the way.
