The plot is tight, and the opening few quick cuts instantly present Sloan as a capable woman. There is almost no nonsense in the whole process, concise and powerful but not too much about the background of the characters, which allows the audience to have more imagination space for Ms. Sloan's past.
After watching the film and then looking back at the opening confession, the context of the whole film is clearer.
There are also some such classics in the movie, so that the whole movie has something that can hit you in addition to the full plot.
"People read to prepare for the real world." "I may not like the real world"
"A conviction lobbyist can't only believe in her ability to win" (from my translation). The implied meaning of the second half of the sentence should be, as well as what she believes in right and wrong.
Still, I don't really like this character. Being too intelligent and decisive and leading to a lack of human touch is a double-edged sword. Although she has become a powerful and great lobbyist, she has lost some warmth in it.
Sloan must be sad and lonely, and how wishing reality would be kinder to her. Maybe the movie doesn't need warmth, and the reality is cruel, but I still like to see the imaginary beauty, let me believe it.
