[An endless short review]

The adaptation is quite satisfactory, without missing any important plot. But dude, this is a movie, and you gotta find a way to keep the audience on the bench for two hours! The biggest difficulty in adapting this novel lies in the final interrogation scene and the male protagonist's inner scene at that time, because it is basically a long dialogue. It's boring to put these things directly in a movie.
It does a good job of commercialization, although it is only a superficial interpretation of 1984. The most awesome part of the 1984 original is not just dystopia, but the establishment of its own centralized world system, covering philosophy and sociology, and the important thing of "double thinking" has been touched in the movie, looking forward to fincher to adapt it! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

1984 quotes

  • Winston Smith: I know you'll fail. Something in this world... some spirit you will never overcome...

O'Brien: What is it, this principle?

Winston Smith: I don't know. The spirit of man.

O'Brien: And do you consider yourself a man?

    Winston Smith: Yes.

O'Brien: If you're a man, Winston, you're the last man. Your kind is extinct. We are the inheritors. Do you realize that you are alone? You are outside history. You unexist. Get up.

[Winston gets up and O'Brien shows him his reflection in a mirror. Winston is disheveled and beaten]

O'Brien: *That* is the last man. If you are human, *that* is humanity.

  • O'Brien: Power is tearing human minds apart and putting them back together in new shapes of your own choosing.
