Chinese director James Wen, except for "Chainsaw 1" and "Dead Silence", does not seem to have many well-known works. But regardless of his level for the time being, judging from the comments of this film, James still has many loyal fans. Looking at their compliments and criticizing others, I can only helplessly shrug my shoulders and say: Hehe o(╯□╰)o. Because movie reviews are originally something that the benevolent sees the benevolent and the wise sees the wisdom. Many people are writing, but most of them do not have the professional quality of film criticism. Disliked? Please detour!

I chose to watch this film for two reasons: ① Kevin Bacon, I have not seen many of his other works before, I just like the actor himself; ② The subject of revenge/crime/violence. I watched the 105-minute film in about an hour. First of all, the storyline of this film is very simple and rough. The male protagonist Nick originally had a happy family, but his son was killed by a gang member, and the murderer did not get the punishment he deserved. Nick decided to fight violence with violence. He kills the murderer, only to offend Billy, the gang boss behind the scenes. Billy led someone to chase Nick, but the latter narrowly escaped, Billy then bloodied Nick's family, and Nick again. . . Luckily survived, he buys guns and fights the gang to the death.

The plot of this film is a bit cliché, some people say it is like "The Punisher", it is true, but at least it looks more comfortable than the latter. Everything seems so natural, in other words, there is no bright spot. Moreover, the portrayal of the characters in the film is not full enough, including the male protagonist. His clues are extremely thin, that is, 1. Family happiness, 2. Losing his beloved son, 3. Violence by violence, 4. stabbed a hornet's nest, 5. Bloodbath rebirth + revenge, The End. The roles of other characters are extremely small and extremely facial, and their existence basically serves the protagonist. The contradiction between the villain's boss and his father was only expressed in a few lines, and it was really not convincing. His father didn't mind Nick killing his son, and the eldest shot his father in cold blood. In my opinion, the purpose of these two scenes is to simply show the badness of the boss, and to show that the protagonist's revenge is deserved and reasonable, the reason is that the boss is a heinous guy, such a person should be damned, right?

Looking at the setting of the protagonist, you dare to clamor for gangsters when you are a commoner? "The Punisher" is still from the Marine Corps anyway, well, the synopsis says "but Nick still has excellent motor nerves and a strong body..." But I don't see this aspect from the movie Information.

By the way, the structure of the movie, the first few minutes of the movie are all about Nick's family fun. It wasn't until the 11th minute that the first "Inciting Incident" (son killed by gang member) occurred. In fact, this kind of theme is originally very good. Although it is illegal to abuse the death penalty (revenge), it can easily get the sympathy and approval of the audience if it is set properly. In fact, there are no specific rules for movies. You can follow Hildfield's model to conceive and write a script in a standard format, or you can use some magic strokes and use various techniques, techniques, metaphors, etc. The acclaimed Elephant. To be honest, if you don't have the talent and talent of some directors, you should honestly read a few pages of a book like "Basics of Movie Script Writing". The things that the film predecessors summed up must not be wrong, yes , this is not absolute, it must not be wrong. We should all obediently follow, provided of course you haven't come up with a better idea. Speaking of this film alone, some members of the family can have some connection with the gang at the beginning, or they can be told in reverse order, etc., which are much smarter than the current version.

Speaking of the script, there are several long dialogues in the film, and Viki King's "21 Days to Get the Movie Script" also clearly pointed out the drawbacks of writing lines in this way, so I won't say much more.
