Bombing case Husband died in an explosion, wife asked the newspaper for compensation Diane Julies, the head of the law firm Lawyer of the partner: none Judge Opponent lawyer Stern Cause of the incident The wife found Stern to represent her because she was dissatisfied with the amount of compensation paid by the newspaper. Stern demanded high compensation for the incident, citing the newspaper's publication of a cartoon of Muhammad, which angered Islamic militants, and at the same time lowering the standard of security checks. Pre-trial investigation The head of the newspaper said that he was a free media, and although he knew that it would anger radicals, he had the duty to speak freely. That cartoon was the winning entry in a call for prizes, and it was published with the consent of all editors, including the deceased. The first trial Wife testified: The cartoon turned out to be just an ordinary Middle Eastern man, but in order to increase the controversy (in order to increase sales), the person in charge of the newspaper decided to change the character to Muhammad without authorization. Investigation Progress Through an expert, Kelinda found the original author of the comic, a 15-year-old boy. He said it was his own idea to become Muhammad. But his mother refused to allow him to testify in order to avoid future harassment by fundamentalists. The second trial The former employee of the newspaper office: The editor-in-chief insisted on using controversial cartoons despite the objections of the lawyers. Diane finds a blasphemous illustration he once hosted, and he argues that sparking controversy is second, and fear of violence is paramount. The out-of-court investigation of Kelinda's residual traces from the bombs speculated that the bombs may have been made on the spot in the newspaper office and sent to the deceased's room by elevator. In fact, someone had sent threatening photos to the newspaper beforehand, and the editor-in-chief did not take any action. The third trial The editor-in-chief of the newspaper (defendant) testified that he agreed to publish the cartoon because of the right to free speech. Stern produced the latest police investigation report, stating that the bombing was carried out by insiders. Alicia knows that Stern can get out of control in stressful situations, so he uses this to keep Stern from continuing to ask questions. Fourth Trial Ex-employee testimonial: Cary's questioning revealed that the person knew many details of explosives, some of which were not even mentioned in the police report. This person has serious suspicion. As a result, Stern lost the case, and the deceased's family received compensation even lower than the original promised price. Politics Property developer who sexually bribed Peter is set to testify. Eli and Daniel found the businessman, who said he was affected by Gle nn Childs threatened. While Eli said Peter could have hurt him too, he said Glenn was a bigger threat. Peter met the businessman at the church and found he had a bug. Peter vowed to speak out about his son. Law Firm Office Politics Stern hopes that Cary can change jobs through Cary's classmates. Cary approached Will to negotiate terms, but Will said nothing was settled, and his rivalry with Alicia was still going on. Cary conjectured that Julies might want to jump ship from a classmate, he told Will. Will appreciates and agrees to Cary's loan application. Diane and Will approach Julies, but he says the company has laid off half of its tax lawyers (his department) and that the company's financial woes are well known. As for why he went to a rival company, he said Stern seemed more solid and he was a good mentor. Diane and Will agreed to give Julies the same treatment and agreed to provide the company's racial diversity. Julies agreed to stay, and he gave Diane and Will a list of junior lawyers who had agreed to jump ship together (they were about to fire the staff). Cary's classmate was found out by Stern and leaked the news, and was fired by Stern. Alicia's family Jackie came to Alicia's house to find out about Peter's meeting with Pastor Isaiah. She thinks Peter shouldn't be blaming himself all the time, and the people who want him to keep apologizing are trying to make him weak. Peter's family went to church. But Alicia saw his meeting with the businessman and thought it would be a mistake to believe he was repenting, and he was the same. Alicia's feelings Alicia called Will in front of Peter and asked Will to go out to dinner. She told Peter that she wouldn't believe anything he said.
