Paris, in people's hearts, represents prosperity, beauty, romance and elegance, and it is almost a collection of thousands of praises. This kind of Paris feels out of reach, like a dream so perfect that it cannot exist in reality. Movies don't portray Paris any more and sing praises for the love of Paris. Maybe that's why the French people don't have a model show. They are people who are guided by freedom. Even in poor streets and alleys, flowers are still planted at the door of every household. This is the real Paris.
The film is made up of twelve short stories, each shot by a different director, in different neighborhoods: Montmartre - Bruno Poda d'Histoires; Seine Banks - Gourund da Hacha; Black Zone - Gus Van Sant; Tuileries Garden - Coen Brothers... The skills and styles of each director are different, but together they are a complete and colorful Paris. In each short film, the protagonists are some mothers who have lost their children, some are foreign tourists visiting Paris, some are black people living at the bottom of society, some are pantomime actors who are not accepted by ordinary people, and some are even vampires. At first glance, these people are completely unrelated, but if you look at the whole film, you will find that they do have one thing in common: they both have love. In this regard, the twelve directors have mastered it very well. Although the content is varied, they have not strayed from the title. It is precisely because of their keen and unique perspective that we can see a real tactile, fireworks-like Paris.
Among the twelve short stories, one touched me the most.
The director Sylvia Jomai took the Eiffel Tower as a place to show the love story of two mime actors. The story is told by their children, "Gene, where did your parents meet?" "In prison." "In prison? Tell us about it!" I woke up depressed in the morning, depressed because I couldn't find my other half. Dad looks a little funny, he is a poor pantomime actor, he has no fixed job, and he wears a ridiculous and weird make-up like a clown all day long, but he believes that his Paris is a place where he can find love. Although the house is small and the apprentice is written on the four walls of the door - "stupid mime", it does not prevent him from loving life. He has an imaginary cat. He pretends he has a car. He imitates the way others read a newspaper, drink tea, and walk, hoping to bring happiness to people. But all this seemed absurd in the eyes of people, and everyone tried to detour when they saw him. He was finally put into prison by the patrol police because he annoyed the strong black people and caused security problems. Who would have thought that he would find love in prison. She is also a pantomime, and she is not accepted by ordinary people, and she is an outlier who is put in prison. They were locked in the same room. The moment they met, the two depressed faces instantly glowed, and they both performed the classic pantomime pose at the same time: palms swept the entire face from bottom to top, and the crying face immediately changed. into a smile. Their series of body language that is not understood by ordinary people and only known to each other can frighten the prison guards. The two began to live a happy and natural life.
Gene said: "My story is finished." At this time, two elementary school students ran over and shouted: "The mime's child!" Gene was pushed to the ground. Genn struggled to his feet and picked up the glasses that had fallen to the ground. His parents watched all this at the door of the house. They didn't say anything, but made a movement at the same time: their palms slid across the whole face from bottom to top, and the crying face immediately turned into a smile. When Gene saw it, a smile appeared on his face immediately, and he went to school with a schoolbag on his back.
At this point, the story of Sylvia Jomai's filming also ends. In this short film, Gene's parents are pantomime performers, everything is shown in action, without a single line. The earliest movies were silent, and I think this is a test of the quality of the actors. Like Chaplin, he has already become an immortal actor representative. Who can say that the Gene family is unhappy, a grain of sand in your eyes may be a flower in their eyes. Love is in my heart, how to describe it, like flowers blooming in the desert.
Following the success of "Paris, I Love You", "I Love You" has become a movie brand, followed by the release of "New York, I Love You", and "Shanghai, I Love You" is still in preparation. It is undeniable that "Paris, I Love You" has always been imitated and never surpassed. In contrast, "New York, I Love You" seems a bit soft and pretentious, and the overall appearance is much more rigid.
Perhaps this is the peculiar charm of Paris, a city of love. Luc Besson said: "Paris in the movie has no traffic lights, no sidewalks on the roads, and no various advertisements on the buildings." How to describe Paris is a difficult problem.
In Preville, everything makes sense -
"A thousand years and ten thousand years/It's hard to describe/The eternity of this moment/You kissed me/I kissed you/In winter, in the misty morning/Morning in Monceau Parc Leigh / The park is in Paris / Paris is a city on earth / The earth is a star in the sky.”
