The meaning of life? The eternal problem is also a problem that often troubles us but is generally ignored by us. Akira Kurosawa gave us a direction with the thinking and search of a man who accidentally learned that his time was short.
The story of the movie is very simple, the sound effects of the camera and the performance of the plot must be master-level, and the excellent performance of the actors makes the film more soulful. But let's put aside all the outside of the movie, what can we feel? What can we learn from Akira Kurosawa's questions and answers? These, in my opinion, are the original intentions of my movies.
There are four answers to the movie: the comfort of family, the joy of indulgence, the infection of youthful vitality, and the vitality of self-care. The first three are to seek the inspiration and meaning of life given to them by others, only the last one is to seek the meaning of one's life from oneself. At the same time, this last answer never only seeks a way in the film, nor is it a dedication to serving the people, it is purely to feel what one has done, and then give life to these things. The most obvious expression of this in the film is that the female staff's thinking and love for their work is the key that finally inspires Watanabe.
But for me, the meaning of life can and can only be found in myself. This answer is not what I know and learn. In the film, Watanabe's thinking and the process of constant search are what made me feel the deepest and moved me the most.
At the beginning of watching the movie, I expected to get the answer to the meaning of life. After watching it, I realized that the meaning of life lies in myself, and the process of seeking lies in constantly asking myself, constantly exploring myself, and then constantly trying, trying, and trying again.
The charm of the film lies in the passion and innovation of the filmmakers, in that it can make us feel the beauty and ugliness of nature, the good and evil of human nature, and our personal speculation on these in addition to beauty, ugliness, good and evil. I think the only and biggest difference between people is that they think.
