Watching "Super Brain" is like playing a game.
Ironically, Hollywood has always put the game on the screen, but it often fails to grasp the essence of the game, and "Ultra Brain" has nothing to do with the game, but it has a strong sense of the game from the beginning to the end. If you have played sandbox games with urban backgrounds such as "GTA", "Blood Rogue", and "Saints Row", "Ultra Brain" is simply a trial video of the game, and the entire experience is highly similar.
As soon as the protagonist of this story came out, he was a bastard with no moral values. Just like players who have just entered the game, they have strong curiosity and do bad things everywhere, fighting, killing, robbing cars, burglary, rampaging the streets, lawless. Especially when I grabbed the car and got in, I then switched to the third-person bird's-eye view. Radio music played in the background at the same time. Except for some meal-made videos, I have never seen such a game-filled movie bridge.
Too many bad things have been done, the Wanted Index has risen, and the slips have appeared very cooperatively, and the inexperienced players have been caught. After some criticism and education, a lot of experience points were lost. At this point in the game, there is enough nonsense, and I start to concentrate on the main line, earn money, obtain intelligence, save people, drag racing, fight bosses, challenge one task after another, constantly unlock new memory fragments, and at the same time, there is a love relationship. The branch of the
game is also constantly accumulating progress... It can be seen that the protagonist is a skilled and advanced player, and it only took about 100 minutes to get close to the perfect level.
If it's just plot points and scheduling techniques, then we can find a lot of such "game movies". What's more rare about "Super Brain" is that the whole sense of rhythm is highly compatible with playing games.
In terms of style, this movie is of the more old-school type. There are several main male characters, none of which is a good-looking player (at least not at this age), and the only Ryan Reynolds who can rely on his face. Also unshaven and unshaven. Generally speaking, this type of arrogant girl who doesn't match the taste of the nympho girl should have a faster rhythm, less nonsense, and emotional dramas that can be deleted or deleted, and the main focus is simple and rude.
"Ultra Brain" is different. It has a slower rhythm, a lot of love, and sometimes deviates from the masculine American crime film track. Not only is it like this in literary drama, but in a few moves, it doesn't seek to cut the chaos with a sharp knife, and it's more stable. The whole narrative rhythm is like a literary romance movie, more than a science fiction action movie. It is believed that female audiences will be attracted as much as males.
If this 113-minute story were placed in the 1980s, it would be properly told in 90 minutes. There is a pause in every link, which is exactly the experience of the game player. Unless there are certain cutscenes, the relaxation of the plot will not be too obvious.
In addition, "Ultra Brain" can also quite reflect a trend of Hollywood movies, that is, the collapse of a relatively old-school value.
In a commercial film ten or twenty years ago, if the protagonist deliberately killed innocent people, or even attacked a bad guy who had lost the ability to resist, he would not be saved. And even if the protagonist’s personality has abandoned evil and changed his mind, "Super Brain" is still like the father of "Hurricane Rescue 3". In order to save the "family", the authorities did not care about killing and maiming the police. The authorities still turned a blind eye to the audience. I sincerely hope that he will not die, and will not be angry for the dead police and passers-by.
This trend of moral alienation has paved the way for the soaring violence index of commercial films in the future.
Of course, for most viewers, the most fascinating thing about the film is, will you fall in love with a stranger who has transplanted your lover's memory? The handling of the film is rather ambiguous, and it does not specify whether the first woman fell in love with him because of a shared memory, or because he is a "good" person who desperately rescues his mother and daughter, or both. The ending is also left blank, and the answers are all outside the scene.
Blur processing is of course a creative need. To put it simply, such issues as whether the memory can be completely transplanted and whether the transplantation can change the personality of the host, these issues are scientifically inconclusive, and the film is not obliged or necessary to come to a conclusion. It is rather low-level in terms of conception. Of course, commercial films always have to take on the moral mission of persuading people to be good, and the road to a bright, optimistic and warm heart in an ambiguity is the double preference of business and art.
"Super Brain" is not an ambitious movie. The discussion on scientific and technological propositions is just like its action scenes. It is not large in scale and can be spotted, but compared to those dazzling super popcorns, it will not numb the audience. In the audio-visual bombing, there are no brain-burning logics to stun people, and there are a lot of brain cells left after walking out of the theater to be more realistic with the plot.
Thinking about it, it’s really hard to draw conclusions:
If one day your partner falls in love with a strange body that has your memory, are you happy or worried? Is he loyal to you or betrayal? You guys tell me the answer!
