Many things are inexplicable in themselves.

The second Woody Allen movie I watched, the narrative style really liked it.

The story is not complicated, even a bit cliché, a tangled love triangle. The famous and capable uncle Phil and the nephew Bobby who just entered the society fell in love with the beautiful and refined heroine Vonnie at the same time. Uncle Phil. Nephew Bobby, also known as the male protagonist, returned to New York with sadness, took over the nightclub opened at home, and managed to become a popular "celebrity society" in Manhattan. Later, Bobby met Veronica, who had a very similar name to Vonnie, and the two got married and had children. Until one day, my uncle appeared in front of Bobby with the female protagonist again. Of course, both of them have changed. The heroine used to be a girl who yearned for freedom, but now she has become a Hollywood housewife who has a lot of gossip about celebrities, and the hero has grown from a big boy who is careful not to overstep the rules. The old fritters who do well among the celebrities.

Time passes. Life moves on. People change.

The love between the male and female protagonists is still strong, but what lies between them is each other's families and lives in different cities. They met privately, making up for the regret of not being able to cook a good meal together back then. They kissed in Central Park in the early morning, as if they had known each other back then. There may also be a hint of distress for Veronica, who has children at home. She has no knowledge of all this. When she said that she had a dream that the male protagonist slept with his ex-girlfriend while going to Hollywood, the male protagonist put it off, it was just a dream .

Unlike many romance films, the director always tries to close the distance between the audience and the characters. Woody Allen doesn't make any comments on the whole thing. There is no personal emotion in the whole film. He just tells one thing from the perspective of God. As a movie watcher, when I watch it, I can't seem to blame any character. The feelings and mental journey of each character can be understood, and each character has its own sadness.

Many things are inexplicable in themselves. Sometimes the choice in love is to reject the possibility of another life.

The ending is open-ended, and the director doesn't intend to tell the audience how they will choose. At the end of the story, at the beginning of the new year, two different cities are celebrating the new year, and the eyes of the male and female protagonists look very lonely. Have a little emotional resonance, there is no way to judge who is right and who is wrong, but at the beginning of the new year, life goes on.
