Before watching the film, Jet Li said on many occasions that his Huo Yuanjia was different from the previous ones, and he wanted to convey a concept, a truth that his previous films had never told.
So, we see that everyone in Huo Yuanjia is a philosopher: parents, village girls, Nong Jinsun... Even the little Japanese opponents are influenced by philosophy and are willing to be defeated.
I can't say that Jet Li's intentions are not good, but I always feel awkward. Embroidery needles have their own matchmaker to pick, Li Kui, forget it! In fact, there are innumerable ways to convey this big and unreasonable truth, and Jet Li chose the wrong way—of course, it was his only way.
Of course, the scenes of the movie are still wonderful, at least better than 80% of the movies.
