The eyes of the people in the film are full of fear and hatred. The Germans who occupied the Netherlands did whatever they wanted, and they were reckless, but you will also find among them Munts, who still dared to violate the mission of a soldier for love; Alice after the war was locked in a cell by the people who were liberated. They have been ravaged in every possible way, and some of them are indiscriminate just to vent the hatred that has been suppressed for too long in their hearts, so they reveal their animal nature no different from the fascists. The infuriated people pointed the finger at the whole alien race, all Germans should be killed, and those who served Germans should also be killed.
War is inherently absurd.
