Kind gold - SM legend wrapped in religious cloak

BLOG from Cigarette Butts, February 14, 2006. Once issued in the red sleeve in the name of Sakura.

Believe me, such a famous film with such a sensational subtitle is not just for attention. I also ask all die-hard fans to forgive me. I didn't have any disrespect for this film. I just said a few gossips about the film from the standpoint of a viewer.

It's all just miscellaneous talk, that's all. If you don't like it, you can be my bullshit.

I watched this film one afternoon in the early spring, sorry I watched the D-version DVD, the subtitles in the second half of the film were seriously misplaced, and the dubbing was delayed by four or five minutes. It's an amazing experience. So I can skip the subtitles and really appreciate the actor's performance.

Kind Gold tells a less complicated story. The beautiful Li Jinzi, thirteen years ago, because of the illegitimate daughter being coerced by a man surnamed Bai, he had to stand up for the man surnamed Bai and confessed to one count of kidnapping and murdering a five-year-old boy. Thirteen years later, Jin Zi was finally released from prison, and she took revenge on the man surnamed Bai.

Li Ying Ai, the oxygen beauty who is famous all over the world with the image of Xu Changjin, a gentle and tenacious ancient working woman, plays the bitter and sad heroine Li Jinzi in the film, after 13 years of forbearance with a smile, She was staggeringly cold. Quietly and step by step, she began her revenge. Oh no, in the words of the film, revenge began thirteen years ago.

Such a story about revenge. I guess it might be "Hamlet," maybe "The Count of Monte Cristo," maybe even, maybe a "White Haired Girl."

I always felt that the director of this film was heavily influenced by "Amelie" (or any other French film) in the way of shooting - please forgive my shallowness, I can't dress myself as a senior filmmaker , summed up the technique in technical terms - throbbing footage, inmates appearing, and background music like absurd comedy. To be honest, even this way of emphasizing the absurdity of life and the holiness of gold doesn't seem right to me. Basically, most of the first part of the film was viewed by me as the usual Korean idol love light comedy. No matter whether Jin Zi kept a cold face, stared at her big beautiful eyes, or kept wiping the bright red eyeshadow.

Religion, a topic the director has been painstakingly working on, is on display from the very beginning of the film. The priest, the tofu, the angel's light, the candles, the bloody eyeshadow, the snow, the wine and the cake, the trial, even the golden daughter Jenny and the little boy in the cake shop, and the obvious lines...everywhere. The film is full of religious insinuations and hints. But too many hints weaken the theme. Everything is too conscious. It seems that the simplest action has indisputable religious philosophical significance. Especially the climax part of the film - the trial of the man named Bai under the auspices of Jin Zi, the religious enigma is about to come out. In fact, in my opinion, it's a bit too vulgar and pretentious. Judgment, execution, blood, burial, and the scene of family members sitting with Jinzi and sharing cake and wine (there is a narrative of sharing wine and bread in Christian doctrine, wine hides blood, and bread hides meat), which makes me doubt this. Is it a medieval church mission film?

I guess the director may want to show the only pure humanity in the ugly world (before watching this movie, I didn't know anything except that it was starring Lee Young-ae - I didn't see any specific introduction to the movie, even The director's name, I can't figure it out right now), Kim may be an image similar to the ball of suet, with a tragic fate and an evil reputation, but with a heart of gold, the last angel of this world. When the world was so filthy that it was impossible to make a fair judgment, she stood up and used a violent and decisive way to wash away the sins with blood, seek redemption, replace God, and complete the judgment on the world. What a solemn and sad thing this should be - but I'm very sorry, but what I think of is only a less high-end product on the Hong Kong film production line: "Under the Temptation of Uniforms".

SM. This is the most direct feeling when I watch this film. Gold's black leather jacket, leather boots, ingeniously designed pistols, cold eyes, tying up, torture... All kinds of details in the film, intentional or unintentional hints, make me firmly believe that this is actually a A video about SM. There is a scene in the film, after Jin Zi and the little boy in the bakery are in love, the little boy's naked body is hidden in the quilt, his eyes are slightly timid and pitiful, but Jin Zi sits beside him with a blank face and breathes clouds. I was impressed by this scene because I was amused by it. At the time, I couldn't help but wonder, is the director a supporter of extreme feminism? Maybe my nerves are too thick, I didn't notice Jin Zi's pain and indifference at all, I just thought it was a little funny.

Yes, I am so convinced that "Kindly Gold" is actually an SM movie. The powerful gold, dressed in a black leather jacket and shoes, looks like a SM queen, looking down at all beings coldly. Her beauty and ruthlessness (you can call it kind, or holy) made countless people bow down to her, both men and women. They loved her, worshipped her, surrendered to her, and faced the gods.

Trust me - even though I haven't seen much of SM - this kind of admiration and love, this surrender, is definitely a big part of the emotion in SM. Years ago, a certain British playwright wrote in a book: "One man's cruelty is one man's authority."

Forgive me, I always think of these topics, even in films with such tragic and solemn subjects. Maybe it's because I've read too many of Freud's works. You know, Freud is someone who likes to attribute all human behavior to libido.

One of my favorite details comes near the end of the film. After the victims killed their enemies, they sat around the cake shop with Jin Zi. One of the dead asked Jin Zi in a low voice, will you send us the money? This is our account. A small piece of paper with a bank account number was handed over. The next second, in front of everyone was a piece of paper with the account number clearly written on it. The humbleness and selfishness of human nature are undoubtedly revealed at this moment. ——Speaking of this, I once thought that the director likes religious edicts so much that he should actually set the victim’s family to 12 people, so that a sequel about the resurrection of the Lord can be made. Jesus was with the twelve disciples, and Judas betrayed the Lord for thirty gold coins. "Kind Gold 2", everything starts from the last supper...

Kind gold, which opens with pure white and bright red, and ends with snowflakes and the tears of an angelic Jenny. The director used a woman's greed and hatred and a man's blood dripping to remind us once again: we are all sinners, we need prayers, we need redemption, and once again demonstrated the absolute authority of God. For me, this movie is just a legend about SM. A queen, and countless followers behind her. Fear, hurt, pain, anger, bondage, humiliation...

Kind gold, this SM legend wrapped in a religious cloak, for nearly two hours, I've put all my strength into it, but I haven't enjoyed the pleasure I expected .

This has to be said to be a pity.

  • Geum-ja Lee: Listen carefully. Everyone make mistakes. But if you committed a sin, you have to make an atonement for that sin. Atonement, do you know what that means? Big Atonement for big sins. Small Atonement for small sins.

  • Mr. Baek: Ma'am, there is no such thing as a "perfect person"...
