Lover's Gaze

The first film of the 11th BIFF, I was very happy and lucky to receive a ticket, so I was able to watch this extremely beautiful and moving Love Story again on the big screen.

The choice made by Orpheus may be poet's choice, but the choice made by Marianne and Héloïse is indeed lover's choice.

That taboo, can only be hidden in the mouth, hidden in the pages of love.

When the two met for the first time, their eyes followed them all the way, from the back where they couldn't see clearly at the beginning, to their golden hair.

Then when the two were at the beach for the first time, they avoided each other's eyes, but looked at each other.

Lover's gaze, it's beautiful.

Marianne painted a total of three paintings before and after.

The first picture is the product of the male gaze. When you are not familiar with it, you secretly draw your hand, which is the gesture and gaze you should present under the secular framework.

And the real Héloïse can only be drawn when Marianne really starts to see Héloïse.

Although the second picture is Héloïse's real appearance, it is also the impression of others who first met Héloïse. It is the angry and dissatisfied she who inherited the fate of her sister's marriage. It is the two who are testing each other and understand each other.

When you look at me, where should I look

And only after being honest with each other, can the third picture be drawn, the smile on her face and the love in her heart.

I wasted a lot of time.
I also wasted a lot of time.

Walking alone on the street in the early morning after the show, listening to Four Seasons, I remembered some nights with flying eyes, the smile on the corner of my mouth, the lips I couldn't help wanting to kiss, and the words in my heart.

For the 10,000th time, I was moved by Love Story.

Chat for the record.

Portrait of a Lady on Fire quotes

  • Héloïse: I feel something new.

    Marianne: What?

    Héloïse: Regret.

Marianne: Don't regret. Remember. I'll remember when you fell asleep in the kitchen.

Héloïse: I'll remember your dark look when I beat you at cards.

Marianne: I'll remember the first time you laughed.

Héloïse: You took your time being funny.

Marianne: That's true. I wasted time.

Héloïse: I wasted time too. I'll remember the first time I wanted to kiss you.

    Marianne: When was that?

    Héloïse: You didn't notice?

Marianne: At the feast around the bonfire.

Héloïse: I wanted to, yes. But that wasn't the first time.

    Marianne: Tell me.

    Héloïse: No, you tell me.

Marianne: When you asked if I had known love. I could tell the answer was yes. And that it was now.

    Héloïse: I remember.

  • Héloïse: It's a life that has advantages. There's a library. You can sing or hear music. And equality is a pleasant feeling.
