The plot of the German film lila lila in 2009 is very similar. The lilalila film is adapted from the novel of the famous Swiss author Martin Suter. David, the waiter, found an unpublished manuscript in the drawer of the newly bought second-hand bedside table, and the love story in the book deeply attracted him. In order to pursue the girl he likes, Mary, he organizes the book to her to read and claims to be the author. After reading it, Mary insisted on letting him publish it. The novel unexpectedly became a bestseller, and the relationship between David and his girlfriend also heated up rapidly.
