beyond words speechless

As a movie, the plot is too protracted, and the so-called narration author's storytelling passages are extraordinarily old-fashioned, bland and boring.
The movie is about telling a story, but the story is obviously unsuccessful because the biggest dramatic conflict seems to me to have been used up in the first half of the movie, the relationship between the old man and the writer. Every minute that followed was like torture.
Is the brown-skinned actress anorexic? How does it fit with the sturdy Cooper?!
