You just can't make things right.

Watching this movie when you are frustrated and proud, there will always be a lot of feelings.

The character of Danielle looks smart and beautiful. She wisely thinks that she can see through Clayton's thoughts, and she simply thinks that she can understand all the facts and cause and effect. In fact, she also has the frivolity and innocence unique to her youth. At the end, Clayton's change was not abrupt, but a realization that he couldn't give Danielle what she wanted. What he wants is self-redemption. And what Danielle needs is to experience the life she deserves.

Rory is the shadow of thousands of ordinary people, a great young man with dreams and pursuits, who is unwilling to abandon his ideals to drain his youth, and wants to be an enviable warrior who realizes his dreams. Unfortunately, no matter whether he succeeds or not, he has been imprisoned in other people's achievements, in other people's stories, in other people's reputation, and in other people's expectations all his life. Like his dad said, Sometimes being a man is to know your limitations. He is like a boy who makes mistakes and corrects them, thinking that being honest will give him candy. Young and innocent can never forgive myself.

The nameless old man can never forgive his old man in his life. His time stood still when he left Paris. After he lost his story, he lost his ego. Just as he fled home later, when he tasted the taste of life, he found that the life and ideals he originally pursued were the culprits that destroyed him. He lost his daughter, his Celia, his story. How much resonated his line "You can't make things right, things are just things. Stop martyr yourself." However, isn't life like this, lost in countless choices to find yourself. The past never goes away.

All three authors in the movie are dealing with certain kinds of losses. He may lost his marriage, or he may lose his honesty and innocence, or he may lose his ability to write. They are all stuck in the fucking life they have brought themselves in. They all want to find their ways out, However, life is not fiction, no matter how much they are alike, they'll never touch.
