Thoughts on "Flying Eagle Eddie"

Today, there are two things worthy of joy. One is that I successfully disrupted the listening taste of my colleagues by putting disco in the office, and the other is that I am very happy that I did not use it for anything else but chose one this Friday night. People rushed to watch "Flying Eagle Eddie" which was about to go offline.

To be honest, the sections in "Flying Eagle Eddie" are really vulgar, and you can almost always guess what will happen next in the movie, but this kind of routine is so effective that you can follow the rhythm of the movie. Before watching the movie, I did not expect that there were many audiences besides myself. The moment when Eddie finally landed successfully, there were bursts of applause in the theater. I have to say that this is one of the few great movies I have ever experienced. Atmosphere. I am really not a person who likes sports, but I am always moved by sports movies. I remember that when I was a child, the melody of "Chariot of Fire" was firmly imprinted in my mind, although I didn't even know the song was called at that time. What name and which movie it comes from. For me, the best thing about "Flying Eagle Eddie" is that the soundtrack in the film is this kind of exciting synthesizer style with a sense of the times. When Eddie finally landed safely, it even sounded Van Halen's "jump". "! Just scoring the soundtrack of this film, it is not in vain that I made a special trip to the cinema to enjoy it.

Although Eddie made rapid progress in the film as if he had opened the hanger, he has always focused on challenging himself and ranked bottom in the game, but he was also happy that he broke his personal record (also the best record in the UK!). I'm still willing to accept this kind of chicken soup. In contrast, I am not very satisfied with the way of "Cui Di". Cui Di is so smooth and easily defeated his opponent. It seems that he was born to win the game. In contrast, when Eddie took the elevator to the 90-meter high platform, the talented player who had despised him at the beginning said that you have improved a lot and you are not like them. People like us choose to jump from the platform to release their souls. Eddie watched the genius jump down and easily broke the world record. Although Eddie should never be able to compare with him, this kind of sympathy that broke away from the outcome is too romantic, isn't it.

Another surprise for me in the movie was the appearance of Christopher Walken. The old man hadn't seen him for a long time. I thought he might just appear on the cover of that book, but he finally appeared at the end of the movie. Every time he made a guest appearance in movies, such as "Fatal Romance" and "Pulp Fiction", I hope the old man will take care of his body and see more of his performances in the future. Hugh Jackman is still as cool as ever. The shot from the 90th platform is really cool, but in the film it did not steal the limelight of the protagonist. Starring Talen Egerton, I didn’t have any impression before. When I watched the movie, I felt that Eddie was disabled but not stupid. Why did the acting seem to be a bit of Forrest Gump, but maybe Eddie’s own prototype is indeed like this, after all. At the end of the film, I saw that the original characters are quite restored compared to the appearance in the movie.

But movies are movies after all. In reality, Eddie himself only participated in the 1988 Winter Olympics, because since then there have been new rules, namely: only the top 50 or top 30% of athletes in the world can participate. Winter Olympics. Eddie therefore bid farewell to the Olympic stage. For Eddie who interprets the Olympic spirit, this is really ironic, but his spirit will at least remain in the hearts of everyone who is lucky enough to watch this movie.

    Typical popcorn blockbuster

Yes, despite being clichéd to die for, I drank this bowl of chicken soup with tears in my eyes. An excellent Winter Olympics propaganda film, it is just right to be released in China at this time. Sports is purely about participation, but unfortunately competitive sports are not. I like the dialogue between Eddie and the Finnish trapeze in the elevator. The love of genius and fool is no different.

Eddie the Eagle quotes

  • Eddie Edwards: I just thought we could have a little chat about me being an Olympic ski-jumper.

Bronson Peary: You've more chance of being a ballerina than a jumper.

Eddie Edwards: Good one. I was juts after a few tips, really.

Bronson Peary: Give up, there's one for free.

  • Bronson Peary: [showing Eddie the models of the different ramps] I felll in love with this sport, man. It started with this little baby. This 15 metre little vixen. You manage to land that because it's meant to hook you into the sport, right, so otherwise you wouldn't even bother trying. The 40 meter, when you stack you get bruised, which I don't have to explain to *you*.

    Eddie Edwards: [chuckles] Sorry.

Bronson Peary: The 70 metre, you break bones and you're lucky if you can walk again. The 90 metre. The goddess. Let's just say in the Wild West we'd be measuring you for your coffin before you even reach the stairs. Never forget that, kid.
