The circle is different, don't be rigid

There is a saying: don’t be hard on different circles. The words are not rough, and it is really appropriate to describe this movie.
The protagonist of the film: John, who is what most of us look like. He grew up well, lived well, worked according to the expectations of his parents, went to work, fell in love, got married, and had children. From the beginning of life, you can see the rest of your life. But John is still unwilling. He feels that he is still a little bit of musical talent. Maybe if he works hard, maybe that talent will shine brightly. From then on, he can get rid of the ordinary life and stand on the stage. The crowd was surrounded and supported, and the illusory cheers could make him fascinated like a drug addict.
By chance, he met a band and happened to be their keyboard player. He thought they appreciated his talent and thought he could finally fit into their group, but he was wrong from the start.
The word genius is often associated with madness, and everyone in this group is somewhat morbidly paranoid. Dan likes to have sex with dolls, irascible Corina, taciturn guitarist and drum kit Nana, and the band soul who always wears a headgear: Frank. They make their own music, argue, fight, quarrel, complain, and don't fit in with the normal people in this world. They live in their own world, and they do not need to be affirmed, praised, or applauded by the world. As long as they are together, it's like there is some kind of unknown magnetic field between them, which isolates them from other people. They can't get in and they don't want to come out. John was amazed at Frank's talent, and secretly recorded their video and uploaded it to social networks. Everyone except Frank was opposed to participating in the so-called dazzling performance. In the end, when the show was screwed up, John realized that he had never belonged to the band from beginning to end, and he had no talent. Recognizing one's own belonging is a step-by-step work, and those music that require a genius heart cannot be owned by one's own efforts.
The name of the movie is Frank, but the narrative angle is John. The movie was originally based on John's memoir. I think the reason I call him Frank is because of Frank's incredible musical talent, and the sigh that this talent had to be buried because of his illness. In the film, Dan has a saying: We all want to be Frank, but here, there is only one Frank. Dan chose to commit suicide to end his life, but wore Frank's big headgear. Only the moment of death was the moment he was closest to Frank. Frank's talent is depressing. It is a height that can't be reached no matter how hard he tries. Dan has always thought that he is sick. This world makes him feel hopeless, and the only person he looks up to is too far away, so chose suicide.
But Frank didn't understand, he was just a little boy who had a fervent love for everything in this world. The sound of the wind blowing, the sound of the leaves, the thread on the carpet, the unpleasant smell, the worn sweater, the sparkling lake water...all of which he loves, and he sings and praises from the bottom of his heart. Praise it, he has a strong reverence for life, and a strong and deep love for this world. He conveys this love with songs, and hopes to be perceived by more people. Probably because of this, he accepted John's advice, but his illness prevented him from doing it. He couldn't cater to the public, and he couldn't stand in the spotlight. He could only meet people in a run-down tavern The isolated mountains, free singing, writing, and his love are destined to never be treated gently and kindly by this world. His headgear is considered to be a gimmick, or some kind of consumer product, and their free understanding of music is considered a wonderful thing.
But what is weirdness?
The word "Qihua" often means teasing and sarcasm. It is different from the things that are supposed to be top-notch. The word "Qihua" refers to actions that are difficult to understand other than normal people's actions and thoughts.
They are not weird, they are just pure love of music, everyone in this small group, under the leadership of John, can find the singing voice in every tiny object, music is no longer something in textbooks, it is The free ones are the notes scattered in the heaven and the earth, they are just pickers, find it, organize it, and make it into a beautiful piece of music. This is a sacred and honorable task, and the completion is the end.
This is what John doesn't understand. He paid for the living needs of this group of people who didn't know that the world was difficult, but these people were completely ungrateful. His songs were called bad songs, and they didn't mean to be included in the new album at all. And the album is recorded as soon as it is recorded, and the commercial profit is not considered at all. He uses the mentality of saving to save Frank, to save the band. He has the vanity and pride of a normal person, chasing fame and fortune, and the more you get to the end of the film, the more you can find the difference between him and them.
He insisted on participating in the game and insisted that there were only two people on the field. He only accepted a cheer, and Frank fell to the ground. He pinned his hopes on Frank to lead him to the peak of music, but he didn't know that the peak of music can only be climbed step by step, and no one can use the strength and talent of others. He stood on the commanding heights of the music for only a few seconds, became an exclamation point in life, and then came to an abrupt end. Everything that doesn't belong to you will eventually return to someone else's hands. Frustrated by the failure, he insisted on removing Frank's headgear, which ultimately resulted in Frank's inability to create music again. He thought that Frank's musical talent came from a dark childhood and a tragic shadow of the past, but when he learned that Frank's talent was born, not what he did, John finally understood the value of his existence. He took Frank back to his small group, and the timid big boy re-sang soul-shattering lyrics with shy, timid eyes and tears. There is a tacit understanding like blood blending among them, no music score, no rehearsal, as long as Frank opens his voice, everyone can know the flow of the music score in the air, and the various tones flow naturally...
John has always dreamed of being able to stand In the center of the stage, he finally became the back of an audience and left sadly.
We always have to toss a bit before we know where our boundaries are. Who doesn't have a dream yet! But the reality is that the dream has not come true in the end.
Some people say that this is a movie released to the extreme. It was like the 52° Red Star Erguotou that was suddenly poured down when it was released from nowhere, and then slammed into the uneven concrete wall with red eyes. I can't get this at all. Not only did he not release, but he was unhappy. The character of Frank reminds me of Van Gogh, the genius painter who was praised as a detective after his death, but is considered crazy, crazy, and abnormal in the world. The same is true of Frank in the film. He has a talent that amazes the world, but he can only be amazing after being discovered by future generations in the long years. At the moment, he can only live among those few people. "I LOVE YOU ALL" at the end of the film also appeared in the ending song. The beautiful melody and slightly hoarse voice can suddenly attack people's heart and awaken the softest and warmest part.
During the more than a year of creating by the lake, John was the closest to his musical dream, but the orthodox education he received from a young age made him look like a clown. He was like a dog desperately trying to run into the wilderness, but was The chain was firmly tied, and even if he tried his best, it only hurt his neck. All he wanted to grow was his head. He never ran to the wilderness, never saw the distance. John has too many imprints on us. Those imprints remind us that we are ordinary people. We live in small boxes and live every day. Those geniuses can do things that geniuses can do. Let them do it. .
We have never met an angel, and an angel has never given us the magic to make our dreams come true.

Frank quotes

  • Jon Burroughs: Miserable childhood. Mental illness. Where do I find that kind of inspiration?

  • Frank: I've always dreamed of one day having a band member who shared my vision of creating extremely likable music. So, thank you, Jon. You gave me the little push I needed.
