Frank--Frank is a Model of Happiness

Chekhov once wrote, "One must be in a familiar environment before returning to a familiar emotion." "Only in a familiar emotion can I create something." I don't know why many critics thought the film's ending was bleak. In my eyes, instead, I see warmth and hope in the ending. Frank has retained his talent in the end, and it's wonderful that he's back where he belongs and can continue to create. Many artists never had the opportunity to return to their familiar places, were exhausted by fame and fortune, and spent the rest of their lives in despair. Even most ordinary people have no chance, like Frank, to have loyal partners and like-minded and talented teammates. With such a small forest, why bother to mess around in a messy world? Frank will be alive and well.

On the other hand, John, like most of us, struggles with the mainstream and is unwilling to settle for mediocre intelligence and vain attempts to reach the top. In fact, the root of the problem lies in one's own emptiness and loneliness. John was simply attracted to Frank's genius, as most of us are attracted to fame. But does John really know Frank? No, he just superficially liked Frank and never knew him deeply.

Isn’t our current machine learning and algorithm learning just jumping up and down like John Moths to a flame, just attracted by fame? Among so many people who study machines and algorithms, how many have really understood calculus? You know about probability theory? John's departure from Frank is also a happy event. Because it does not belong to him, the forest and the music do not belong to him. Where is his world? We don't know yet. But as long as he keeps searching, his emptiness will slowly be filled. He will achieve his goal. even if that stage is probably not in mainstream society.

In short, it is not bleak to not integrate into mainstream society, and it is dangerous to be empty and vain to become famous. How many busy men with big dreams end up degenerating into drunkards, slobs, robbers, and rogues? Frank is simply the epitome of happiness. Live in your own world with the people you are most familiar with and the most familiar emotions. That is the fastest place to reach consummation. My heart is my home. Isn't all the effort in life to find a place like home?

Frank quotes

  • Jon Burroughs: Miserable childhood. Mental illness. Where do I find that kind of inspiration?

  • Frank: I've always dreamed of one day having a band member who shared my vision of creating extremely likable music. So, thank you, Jon. You gave me the little push I needed.
