A prisoner, a hostage. An escape trip makes up the entire film.
I was attracted by the plot of the film because I was clueless and curious about the development of the plot.
I wonder if Butch will one day show what we imagine a criminal should look like, get bored with 8-year-old Phili who is unaware of many things or can't respond quickly to some things, and even behave badly .
But the development of the plot is not like this. Like a self-directed actor, he gave Feili enough care, support and tolerance in the scenes he constructed.
I think he can do this to a lot of people, playing music and dancing with their hostess. Play with the owner's children. But it seems that everywhere there are broadcasts of prisoners taking hostages and fleeing. Everyone looks like him from being friendly (whether genuine or fake) to a suspicious look. After being discovered, he wanted to continue to play with the child. The father of the child asked him to come to him, but the child did not obey immediately. When the child came to him, he kept beating him, which angered Butch. He was holding his gun in a position ready to shoot him. If it were me I'd tie them up and run away immediately, but he didn't. To punish parents with poor education? Perhaps it touched the unbearable pain in the criminal's psychology. When the gun was in Phili's hands. Fili was young and could not clearly distinguish between things and things. He can do things for his friends when he needs them, but he should also be punished to stop things from getting worse when he feels his friend's behavior is out of bounds. Then run away from it all. But after one shot, Butch didn't even blame Phili.
Butch seems to owe a lot of people, but punishes everyone. But he has always guarded a pure and kind heart. Maybe I don't understand the prisoner's mind very well. But the prisoner has been going his own way in the plot he made up, as if all the judicial power is in his own hands. He may have violated the rules of this society, but he has his own rules and cherishes what he has.
Including his later death, Phili didn't want him to die because he trusted him. Texas police detective Reid and the governor's special crime expert Sally don't want him to die like this, because they are professional enough to make better-than-average judgments about the behavior and psychology of characters.
But not everyone will not be suspicious of a person who has made a mistake. If I say, maybe smart people are good at making judgments and giving sympathy. But the real emotional connection between people should be based on trust!
