The recommended movie "a perfect world", directed by Eastwood, was released in 1993. The old movies from more than 20 years ago have no sense of being outdated, as if they are aged and mellow and have a deep charm.
The escaped fugitive Bucher kidnapped the little boy Philip. One was a boy who lacked fatherly love, and the other was a fugitive with a childhood who also lacked fatherly love. On the way to desperation, he became a temporary father and son who cherished each other. However, the short-lived warmth could not escape the setting of the original sin, butcher finally gave his life.
After leaving Texas for five years, I rarely watch American movies again (I think I have seen it in my heart, so why bother). This movie actually evoked my long-cherished memories, the endless fields under the scorching sun, the two-lane gravel road, the face reddened by the sun... If I was attracted by the wild and exotic temperament of Western movies when I was young, but now I fully understand Western movies, it is the naturalness that penetrates from the natural dust and the sun to the bones. Butcher represents the freedom, humanity, and adventure side of the American spirit, taking Philip to the "perfect world" - Alaska, although he didn't even escape Texas. The old sheriff is the other side of rational restraint in American culture, sympathizing with the butcher, but shouldering social responsibilities. In the end, rationality overcomes sensibility and achieves Butcher's tragedy. Butcher is like a partner in "The Male and Female Thief", knowing that he cannot do it, a fugitive outside the system, a moth to the fire is destined to be destroyed. This is the unchanging soul in American westerns and road films, and it also resonates with the audience's desire to release.
This is a 1993 film about America in the 60s, without so many cameras, positioning and modern communication equipment. Such a life of desperation was possible back then. If it is placed in modern times and in China, it is basically impossible. Under modern civilization, we consciously abandoned our independence and freedom and became prisoners with nowhere to escape. I really miss Texas.
The little boy in the movie is forbidden by his mother to participate in the Halloween candy event, but the butcher lets the boy follow his heart. At the end of the movie, beside the dying butcher, is the Halloween mask left by the little boy, and the little boy finally got on the helicopter and flew farther and farther. The dream of a perfect world is finally abandoned and becomes a memory of human childhood.
