After Butch escaped from prison, he could only take Philip away because of his companions and it began to become a magical drama. The title Perfect World has at least two meanings in my opinion.
One is the irony of the world, there are too many imperfections. Take Butch as an example, he was born in a brothel, his mother is a young lady, his father is a criminal, and is in prison. It can be said that the starting point is much lower than that of ordinary people. However, this situation is relatively happy compared to the future. Mom hanged herself and had to follow her father who was paroled. Stealing a car for a drive was sentenced to four years in juvenile detention by a self-kind-hearted policeman who walked through the back door. The tragic childhood and teenage upbringing put him on a criminal path, and it can be said that Butch has every reason to hate the world. In a perfect world, none of this should happen.
However, as he himself said, "I'm not a good person or a bad person, I'm just a normal person". But I personally think that he is too self-effacing, because for Philip, his temporary "dad" is too perfect.
The first is the appearance, just when the mother was molested or even about to be beaten, butch fell from the sky and saved them. The first lesson Butch taught him was bravery, teaching him to hold a gun to himself. The fact that Philip dared to shoot is also inseparable from his influence and teaching.
Although he was taken as a hostage, his freedom was not restricted at all, and he always had the freedom to choose to stay. The second lesson Butch taught him was "make your own decisions," so he chose to join him on this magical road trip, choosing to be his temporary partner when he thought Butch was going to hurt a family of black farm workers Shoot to stop Butch.
Butch looked at the lovely Philip, and saw that he was disciplined very strictly, and that he lost a lot of childhood fun. His father was absent, and he had no father's love. Looking at him, he seemed to see his childhood self. So he helped Philip realize all kinds of wishes. "Trick or treat" and learning to drive are two impressive scenes in the film. Even in the final negotiation, the police who were present were full of doubts and threatened "Halloween candy and mother to help Philip realize his wish".
The third lesson I would like to call "generousness". Even after being misunderstood and shot and wounded by Philip, he didn't complain. Just thinking about Philip and his wishes, his generosity made people ashamed.
His love for Philip or for children is undoubtedly revealed in the play. When the children met by chance and were reprimanded by their mother for soiling the car seat, he immediately changed his face and temporarily took away their new car to teach them a lesson. When Philip was stealing a ghostly elf costume, when the clerk spoke ill of him, he fired an empty gun to teach him a lesson. When the black child was beaten by his father for a disagreement, he was so angry that he wanted to kill. The tragic experience of childhood made his heart become especially soft to children and especially unhappy for unqualified adults.
In addition, Butch's personality has always been shining. Facing the uncontrollable companion of Se Li Nei, who was not threatened and suppressed strongly, when Philip was threatened by him, he directly killed him without leaving troubles. This courage and determination was admirable. All the way on the run, he was rarely seen panicking and helpless, and his composure turned the escape into a road trip. There is also a distant place that I have never been to - Alaska, which is full of romanticism and makes people yearn.
Strong, brave, calm, generous, and unconditional love and kind teaching, is undoubtedly the perfect father image. Look at the reality, how many fathers lack company because of work and money, go home, Ge You lie down, get angry at home, and have no patience with children. I think we should all learn from him how to be a dad.
