It's already very good in mythology

To be honest, it was originally a film that was watched with very low expectations. The direct object of comparison should be "The Last Wizard Hunter". Yes, even the production company is the same, Summit Entertainment, which was acquired by Lionsgate.

How about the film? This question is really not easy to answer. From the box office perspective, North America is definitely on the street. I also heard that I was accused of racial discrimination because of using white actors to act as Egyptian gods... This can also involve racial discrimination, which is really American. However, the public cannot refute it. Since it is said that it is black, so be it. The information I checked is that the skin color of the ancient Egyptians has not been finalized...

But if this film is said to be a bad film, I don't think so. Compared to ordinary movies, it is mediocre. But if compared to mythological films, it is more solid than many similar films. First of all, the types of mythological films are limited by their own subject matter. If the mythology itself is more popular, such as "Journey to the West" in China, or "Homer" or "Bible Stories" in the West, it is easier to shoot. But if it is a not-so-popular subject, you need to spend a lot of space in the script to tell the background. What is the status of Egyptian mythology? It must be less popular than Northern Europe, and worse than Greek mythology. Most people may have heard of Ra, the sun god, or Anubis, and may know that there is a feathered Libra in the underworld. Few people know about Osiris, Horus, Apophis, Anka in God's hand, and so on. Therefore, the film needs to spend a lot of energy into the world view, so the length and intensity of the story itself will be much less.

The overall plot of the film is a typical hero's revenge epic. In fact, the film is really not suitable for epic plots, because the time is short and there are too many characters in this type of plot. Not only does the story become a pile of clichés, it is also a nightmare to tell the theme. Many times it is a preaching in the lines of the final battle, which is not convincing at all. From this point of view, the script still has some commendable points. While clearly portraying the entire mythological system, it is not easy to focus on the interaction and relationship between the two male protagonists, and to narrate the theme of "respect for mortals and every life". There are some problems with the portrayal of the human heroine, and the story of the two humans can actually be more refined, but under the premise of describing an unfamiliar worldview, the whole story has passed. From the perspective of the completion of the script, it is much better than "The Last Wizard Hunter".

Special effects are the biggest highlight of the film. The setting that God himself can transform is quite genius. When Horus's golden wings spread out and the Boss was fighting in the air, contrary to the usual awkward fighting of European and American movies, it appeared extra light and agile. Fast and powerful, it is the overall feeling of the film's special effects. In addition, this piece almost involves the entire world of Egyptian mythology, seeing the sun cart pulled, seeing the heavens of the Hades, seeing Apophis about to swallow the Nile... When the scenes are staged on the big screen, it really makes People think this trip is worthwhile.

The director couldn't pick up any major problems, and he managed the story well. Unlike the last wizard hunter, there are slots everywhere, which is gratifying.
In fact, it is already very exciting for me to be able to see such a thorough visualization of Egyptian mythology. The art setting of the film is very good and needs to be complimented. It is both Egyptian and modern, and it also matches the picture density required by the big screen. The sigh is the box office, the filming cost of 140 million US dollars should not be able to come back...
