The quality of the theme largely determines the quality of a movie, and in my opinion, the screenwriter of this movie is shining. When the ending of the film is also the climax, when we finally realize that all this is just a dream of Henry on his deathbed, we will feel that we want to deceive ourselves to stay in that dream and accept his confession. The processing of details determines the texture of the film. Sam's trousers are always short in the play, this is because when Henry saw Sam after the car accident, Sam was squatting beside him, so the trousers were higher. This detail couldn't be better! This film made me see another possibility of horror suspense psychological films, and another possibility of life. Perhaps every few minutes before each life will be gone, time will be infinitely extended and magnified, and our soul will stay there, filling all the imperfections of life for us. We will release all the remorse, regret and dissatisfaction in our subconscious mind, live happily once, and leave satisfied. Maybe the dream is a mirror, it reflects the most real side of human nature. For example, in the film, Laila asked Sam to say to herself, "You are great", "The world will remember you", etc., all of which show Henry's subconscious struggle and panic when he was dying. After all, everyone wants to be this the world remembers. However, why do people always think of trying their best to grasp something to complete their life when they are about to leave this world? Why must it be in a dream that we can face up to our inner despair and mistakes. It's still too late, because no one is an outsider in this world. If this is a dream, the whole world is inside it.

Stay quotes

  • Lila Culpepper: You know, the day I did it, I took two razorblades to the bathtub. You know why? Because I knew that once I started to bleed, I'd get weak. And I didn't wanna drop one blade and leave myself half done. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine hating your life so much that you'd wanna bring a backup razor?

  • Sam Foster: [looking at the empty pill bottles] You can't drink while you're taking these.

Dr. Beth Levy: Mm. Apparently I can.
